The start point is in Les Houches which is just down from Charmonix. It’s the official start point and can reach that by bus from Charmonix. Although I got a transfer straight from the airport to Les Houches.

Not a surprise, but blimey the cafe at the top has changed a lot in the last 30 years sinceI last went inside! Last time I did it was up the Pyg Path and along Crib Goch, then after summit along Watkin path to Y Llweddbefore turning down and end up on otherside of Llyn Lldew from the Miners, before the joining Miners to Pen-Y-Pass. Not sure the path off the Watkin at Y Llweddbefore has a name?

Aah best of luck with it. It’s a great hike honestly. I was thinking about it today as I was driving past the route randomly today and was thinking about it. You just need to decide which variants you’re taking as you have low and high options which give different views in some sections.

Anyone going back via a different route should be aware that the Ranger's path leads you out a long way from anywhere, I found out the hard way. You can leave it near the end and walk to Llanberis, but it's a long, long way down

Hi, it really depends on all the features you might need to be honest. If you don’t need dual wireless microphones I’d recommend the DJI Action 4. I still have 2 myself and they’re brilliant. Get the adventure combo with the extra batteries. There are some good deals on them too.

Hiya Kris this was really informative,one reason is you didn’t just get on about expensive gear,I was packing up this weekend at Whitby on a site and a couple came over to ask what I did when I get home with my gear,you can reach more first time hikers then I ,so if you get time I’m sure people would appreciate it ATB to you and kay

Great idea thanks so much for the feedback John and thanks from both of us. I’ll look to do that as it’s a job itself when you get home. I guess people may be interested or it may help them too.

Tested my action 4 and mic 2 last week for first time, much better than GoPro IMO. The screen is very responsive, can see myself on the front screen display and the battery life seems very good as well as that I feel the picture looks better than the GoPro. Thanks for going through this kit list, useful things I’ve noted. What selfie stick do you use for it?
@Pauladams2676Ай бұрын
Hopefully Danny can learn something from your kit list as it looked like he was carrying heavy items in his pack. Good vid.

His pack was light too, it fact he had lighter kit and overall less weight than me. I was obviously filming so had some different gear and we have different gear but some similar items too.

Hi, Kris. Firstly, it's amazing to see you creating content again, as I know how much time, work, and money goes into making these videos available to the public, so thank you. I really enjoyed watching this mini series, and it's probably my favourite from your collection. My wife and I completed the Hadrian's Wall walk this summer; have you considered doing the same walk? Anyway, after seeing the TMB, it's definitely on our schedule for next year. Again, brilliant vid, and keep up the hard work mate 🤙🏻⛰️🏕
@krisgleaveАй бұрын
Thanks Martin I really appreciate that. I really enjoying recording my trips and sharing the experience but yes a lot of time goes into them too. I definitely don’t do it for the money as literally not worth it at all if I did. I should make a video one day about YT earnings as people think you make a fortune when it reality I make less than £12 per video on average. And that’s for the whole life of the video which could’ve been up here a year 😂 I’m sure I’ll tick that hike off at some point. I’ll probably do it next year. The history or info around the actual hike doesn’t compel me to do it. But it’s a long distance trail and I want to tick them all off so 100% at some stage. Highly recommend the TMB it was amazing. Also in the UK you should look at the Cumbria way as that’s ace too.

Hats off doing that in one go mate.. i did that section in 2 days and found it tough in parts though the campsite in Caldbeck was lovely - hard slog that last bit into Carlisle
@krisgleaveАй бұрын
Yeah it’s a long slog that last section. If I hadn’t had arrived so early in Caldbeck (or been encouraged to push on buy the ladies I mentioned in the video), Caldbeck would’ve been a perfect stopping point. It looked lovely

Love that vid Kris , as one of those that had asked what you’d used , particularly the footwear you wore Quick question , how feasible do you think it would be on future adventures to give grid ref / gps or what3words location for some of your significant stops for refreshment or camp obvs after the stop ? Apologies if it’s been asked before , I recently subscription last month and still getting through your previous videos , cheers
@krisgleaveАй бұрын
Thank you I appreciate that. I love to buy and use new gear so it’s nice to be able to talk about what I use and why. I’ve not really done that but for all my hikes I always share the Strava route in the description. That’ll show where I hiked and where I stopped so worth following me on there and you should be able to spot them.

I stayed at camping grounds along the TMB and there were always charging stations so I was fine with one 10,000 power bank - just if anyone is thinking they need more
@krisgleaveАй бұрын
Yeah that’s valid and if you’re stopping somewhere that works well. But without booking anywhere it’s not always that easy but also depends what electricals you need to power. I ran most days on airplane mode and battery saver and end of the days I was still at over 80% battery so that always helped.

Cheers Andrew. I went for the Large and it’s perfect. I also have an OMM Core Plus Hoody in Large but that once is a tight fit. This Large is perfect and baggy which is what you want but fits well due to the stretch. They’re just hard to find in stock.

Hello, how did you find the watch? Is it the new fenix ? I’m interested but bit out of my price range how are the older models like the fenix 5 or 6?
@krisgleaveАй бұрын
I realised after filming my I forgot to mention it. The watch was great. I’ve used a Fenix 6X Pro for 4 years now on every single hike and it’s been amazing. Had 1 issue with the battery a few months ago so Garmin offer to replace straight away for free. I had an option to pay £152 to get a Fenix 7X Pro Solar Sapphire so I did it and love it. The 6X Pro is superb so I’d get that and save money. Basically the same as this although the 7 is quicker but not needed. The X determines the size which is the biggest. That’s the one I recommend as best battery life.
@bradleyhill599Ай бұрын
@@krisgleave thank kris, I think I’m looking at getting the 6x then much appreciated, keep up the vids up there with one of the best in the hiking and camping scene

Great vid. Obviously 360 for a sleeping bag is a lot. Realistically, are there any more budget friendly alternatives available that you could endorse?
@krisgleaveАй бұрын
Yeah they’re really expensive for what they are. Saying that I’m in mine tonight on Helvellyn and it’s freezing up here but it’s keeping me warm. It really depends on the temperatures you’ll be going on. For a summer quilt I use the Flames Creed 20D quilt (Google it) on Ali Express and works well. But not for when it’s cold. Not too sure on others it’s best chilling KZbin. It’s always a balance against warmth to weight to pack size and price. Always need to sacrifice something so choose what’s important to you. If pack size not as much of an issue it really opens up your options.
