I LOVE flying Picacho! Such a cool perspective! (remember to avoid the ostrich farm). Another good flight is the 2,800ft "Elephant Head" cliff near Green Valley AZ. Weird to see you post videos as my usual hangs! Saw you hanging out in Florida with Eric, almost had a run-in with you at the AFC last month, and I'm told I just missed you at Skydive Phoenix... I'll wing-tip touch you one of these days! ;-P

Thanks, I figured 6 years in the sport with no injuries, a little 4 year old playing on my mind while away on trips to France..ended up getting to me. 1 year to the week of no jumping! I miss it dearly, but I still have sky diving and now Paramotoring to focus on. Maybe I will pick BASE up again later on in life...anyway have fun on your BASE journey!! @@PNWBLUEBARON

Hiked up Picacho several times, very unique hike! Trail is from the early days of aviation when there was a locator beacon up there for the mail planes to follow. Just east across Rt. 10 is also the site of the western most Civil war battle.......more of a skirmish than anything. Cool flight!

Welcome to Arizona Tucker! Long time watcher! Being I live in the Tucson area I was super excited to see you come to our area! I've always wanted to get into the sport but didn't even know where to start. In one of your video's you talked about starting a school in Phoenix. Let us know if you do, cause you are the only guy I would trust to teach me.

1:58 - Based on the geography and color of their coats, those were more than likely javelina (AKA, peccary or "Skunk Pig"), which are native to the Americas and unrelated to the Suidae family (often referred to as "true pigs", which include the species we commonly call pigs/hogs/boar/etc...). While feral hogs can be found in pockets across Arizona, their populations are relatively small. It is possible, however, that they were in fact wild hogs/boar, although they tend to be found in more remote areas (javelina look remarkably similar to pigs, especially considering how far separated they are taxonomically speaking, but they are a bit smaller with almost imperceptible tails. Features which can be difficult to distinguish under even the best conditions).

Awesome video ! Late 70s we were camped near the peak on Christmas morning. At about 4 am, my dad started yelling to get up. A triangle ufo at least a 4 football fields in size, totally black, three dull red 1/2 orbs on each corner floated over us. Completely silent. It went directly over the peak. Very close. The red light dimly lit the summit. It was staggering to experience. The silence was bizzare.

Cool video, Picacho peak is awesome and one of our favorites, that being said, it would be really great if you would talk to the local pilots before flying our favorite lz's and potentially causing us major problems. The ostrich guy named rooster weirdly, is freaking nuts and hates any aviation especially us, he's had sheriff's out there and even shot at a hot air balloon one time, unfortunately he has a big mouth and deep pockets local influence and we've spent many years going back and fourth with him about flying there the conclusion of which is we agreed to keep a good margin of space from his property and never fly over it. Thankfully, since we all adhere to that agreement, we haven't heard from him in about a year and fly there often, unfortunately after your flight, I'm sure we're going to have problems again which could potentially cost us one of our favorite lz's. As you noticed his birds were running like crazy when you flew over because they're terrified of us and they could potentially die from it, which isn't your problem or mine from a legal airspace perspective, however AZ has strict laws on endangering farm animals. I understand that naturally you would not know this as a visiter to our lz, and we love the fact that you want to fly here, but please reach out to the locals anywhere you fly so that we don't have to clean up your mess.

typical entitled snowbirds and others doing their usual snowbird stuff. Pinal County sheriff's office is pretty good at getting their ducks in a row and following through with the entitled weirdos. If something is legal, it's not necessarily moral.
@chrismineburg1163
@chrismineburg1163 10 ай бұрын
@@DidiGrooves he lives in phx now, so he's not really a snowbird but that lz he launched from is popular with us Tucson pilots, there are some phx guys that fly there too but we're pretty protective of it cause it's one of our favorite lz's. We've had problems with the ostrich guy for years, which we understand his birds are skittish, but why he would put his bird farm right next to a major intestate and more importantly next to the literal most prominent aviation landmark in az is beyond me, but still we all try to be good neighbors and respectful within reason so we never fly over his farm like Tucker did.

Wow, it is insane to me that you would call Tucker entitled when CLEARLY, your arrogant really rude comments to him reveal that you believe you own that place and believe everyone should check with YOU first because YOU feel entitled to everyone's adherence to your personal journey and your personal wishes. It's like Tucker forgot to kiss the ring. It's ok that Tucker didn't know. It's not Ok that you came off with a cruise ship full of attitude towards him being nasty. Next time, if you have something to inform someone about, treat them with the respect you believe you deserve. It's good that Tucker has that information now, but it would have been better if you had delivered it without the nasty attitude and making it all about you. Lol would bet my life that Tucker checks in with locals when he knows they are cool people to interact with. I can tell you that if I were him, seeking his peaceful life journey, he would steer clear of you. Next time, lead with the respect that you want to be treated with.

@@mariateresabissinger3035 I only wrote one comment to him and I started it with cool video, and I didn't call him entitled. I felt like I was pretty respectful and only asked what any local pilot would ask of someone new about their local fields, I also never once said I, I said we, we being the local pilot community. I think you misread something.

Great video, must have missed you at the LZ by a few hours, I caution guys not to fly over the Ostrich farm over there, that guy has been known to bring out the shot gun and use it. Yes, I know, we are doing nothing wrong flying over there however that guy is crazy and claims he has 5 million dollars of birds and has shown up at this LZ pretty irate. Once again, I realize we are doing nothing wrong, but, my wing is not bullet proof.

Hey Tucker, Ostriches are deadly with the velociraptor-talon-things, but compared to a handful of toothy, mature boars with big cutters, CLIMB A TREE REALLY FAST!!! Boar hogs RAZOR sharp 'cutters' will shred human flesh to ribbons in a matter of seconds, and jaw strength to crush bone to dust in no time, hence the old tales of body disposal by pig LOL. Thanks for bringing us as always, hope you continue to enjoy your new home, peace!

We had to refuel the propane generator by helicopter sling load using a bell jet ranger. Tucker if you could do a flyover of newman across the 10 that would be awesome thx

1:58 Those are Javelinas. Very common in southern AZ. They're also known as skunk pigs, because of the white stripe on their back and their potent musk glands. In Sierra Vista, they roam the town at night and knock over trash cans. They're also quite aggressive.

the reason why those rocks are so jagged in middle of Arizona is because most of the 'standing rocks' in the central part of the state is volcanic andesite and are igneous; and have been there for millions of years. the amount of erosion they've had has caused them to become jagged and pitted

I know why there wasn't wind at the top while there was at the bottom. Given a calm day, ambient pressure. If a thermal is created by sun, the air that's being heated is now lower pressure and rising. The air immediately surrounding it will start sucking towards it and isn't affected much by obstacles. Similarly but opposite, given a calm ambient pressure, if a microburst comes down, it creates a high pressure area and the moving air from these is blocked by obstacles. So, I would bet that if you had followed the wind from the flag, you'd have found a thermal nearby that was sucking the air around the base of the mountain. If a microburst had been on the other side of the mountain, then the high pressure air would have pushed up to the top of the mountain. I've thought about this lots after having flown NoE below the trees along rivers. On days when I'm near thermals, the river running is dangerous because the wind is lower pressure than ambient and doesn't care about getting sucked through trees. But, on days where thermals aren't nearby, the air in the river area is dead calm and perfect for scudrunning, Nap of the Earth (NoE).
