i invested on a Naturehike Cycling 1 UL tent for my first ever tent 5y ago as I started going through major hikes here in the Philippines and boy, I have never regretted buying it… up until now, some of my new hiking buddies are amazed on how light weight, sturdy and efficient my NH tent is. Even on a really heavy and windy summit camp downpour, it stood up proudly while keeping the condensation within flowing through the sides and not affecting the inner flynit. however, my girlfriend is now planning to hike with me so i’m planning to upgrade to either the Cloud Up 2 (w/c you recommend) or the Opalus Tunnel Tent soon! :)

Excellent reviews - we just bought the Cloud Up 3 - we do mostly car camping and we are older (63 and 66), so the additional room is good and weight not really an issue. We'll be taking it out for a trip shortly to Cape Split, Nova Scotia. Have watched several of your videos and enjoyed them - thank you - we have subscribed. :)

I love the Cloud Peak 2 - so much space inside, even with two people and loads in the vestibules for cooking in bad weather. I had it up in a gale in the Cheviots and it came through unscathed. A tough third placing there buddy :)
@SummitOrNothing3 жыл бұрын
It is a great tent, and as I said, my ranking is based in my own preferences and experiences. The cloud peak certainly is the tent I'd go too to when I need a bomb proof tent or more space, but for the most part, I will choose the lighter options first.. especially in better weather.

I have the Naturehike Spider 1, also called the 'Bicycle tent'. It's just like CloudUp2, but made for 1 person and with a side entrance. Lightweight, with an all mesh inner tent, so I use it only in summer. Brilliant little thing!👍🏼👋🇧🇻😊

@@SummitOrNothing that is exactly what it is👍🏼😊 Hiking and wild camping in this country🇧🇻-nothing but deep woods or rock...pitching a tent can be H*ll...having a self standing tent with a tiny footprint can make or break your camp life. @@scorpiokitty9745 Thanks for this input. I was looking at the 'Bicycle Tent' as I like the side entrance more than the Cloud series and you get the dual Vestibule. The Cloud vestibule looks tough if you need room to cook in the rain.
@Thee-_-Outlier Жыл бұрын
The fly doesn't pull away from two of the sides tho. This is an issue for sure if it's rainy and windy. Why? Because when the fly is pressed up against the mess water is likely to run down the fly and into the tent under the right conditions. I do think it's a cool tent except that one flaw but that flaw had prevented me from buying it. It's unfortunate because it's so small and light and I like how it pitches. I wish it had time outs on all the sides or was designed such that the sides don't touch the mesh
@hughjaars228511 ай бұрын
Another vote for the bicycle tent. I added tarp grip tie out to help set the fly up better - works fine and taken a few soakings on Dartmoor without any issues.

I think the one thing Naturehike needs to consider is to offer a choice of inners so that you can opt for solid fabric over all that mesh if you want more of a cold weather tent.

I used 4 tents that you've reviewed and I totally agree with how "flexible" Cloud Up 2 is, at first I was thinking that its too "small" for us 2 persons with 2 osprey 40+ liters inside, but we kinda like it as time goes by. The most versatile naturehike tent for me. With proper installation, no water will go inside. In cold weather, only moisture gets in (which is just fine for the price). Will totally get another one if it naturehike will upgrade the cloud up 2 with 2 doors now.

I've got the VIK 1 (updated version) and pretty happy as well, but it's just a tent for the summer. Cold nights = moist nights inside. I tested it out at 1°C and had puddles in all 4 corners next morning. But for dry nights above 10°C you've got no issues at all. Rainy summernights are also a bit of an issue, because moisture is also bilding up quickly inside (but it's sealed and watertight. It's my go to tent for lightweigt short-trips but for longer adventures I'll try out the Cloud up 2. I especially love the door, that you can use it as small roof with some sticks or hiking poles. Maybe next year you couldt take a look at the Cloud Up Wing 2 and the Naturehike shared 2. Both look pretty intersting and unfortunately you find nearly no reviews.

I have a cloud up 2 UL model and its a great tent overall. Its my backup tent now for a few smaller reasons though. Its pretty noisy in heavy wind. No matter how tight I get it, it still flaps around a bit. I'm also not really a fan of the entrance being on the narrow end instead of on the side. You have to crawl around a lot and over bags in the vestibule and stuff. And I wish the inner walls didn't have mesh going so far down. Even on semi warm nights you can feel a breeze on your face while sleeping because the mesh is so low. Otherwise it stays decently warm. The first night I ever used it ended up getting a good rain and the tent performed perfectly right out of the box.

Zipper snagged on my cloud peak too. I think it's fixable but need to unstitch a bit, good thing there's two doors. Also, the later models don't have the inner zipper going on the bottom, you have to open it all the way unless you want to high-jump yourself in. Otherwise, no complaints, a very very good tent and quite nice to pitch up. Now I'm looking for something for the winter, kind of like the Naturehike Opalus, but haven't made up my mind yet.

I have had no experience with the Hiby, but the cloud up 3 should be perfect for the two of you.

I picked up a cloud up 1, although I fit it is a squeeze but debating a cloud up 2 but not sure if I want to carry the extra weight 😂
@bidufree3 жыл бұрын
How tall are you, Stephen? I've heard that the Naturehike tents are shorter in reality than stated by the company. So, less than 210 cm long.
@JammyJerry3 жыл бұрын
@@bidufree I got the Cloud Up 1 based on their diagram of having a 230 inner, what a disappointment, in reality the inner doesn’t pitch like that at all, those 30cm at the back only exist if you really stretch the floor out to accommodate a tape measure. In fact it only got 200cm useable length, at 6’1 myself I do actually fit in but my head is touching the door and my 220cm sleeping bag is bunching up against the low hanging inner at the foot end. Also the side guy out points are a very strange design, they kinda pull up the bathtub floor and put tension on it. The vestibule is no use for cooking either, yeah it was a disappointing purchase, should’ve have done my homework more thoroughly, fortunately I only paid €73 during their April flash sale.

I'm not sure what the additional weight is... i have done vids on both, but the lengths may not differ too much. 🤷♂️

@@JammyJerry Thats a shame you had issues with hieght. Im 5, 10 and never had a problem with it (I sleep curled up or in a smaller tent I tend to sleep diagonally). I reckon if you ebayed it you'd easily make your money back, though, if you havent already.

Great Vid Trev, I am on the fence about buying a Cloud Up 2, but I think I am swaying towards a hexpeak. But now after watching this I am even more undecided! Damn You!

Great vid Trev, naturehike tents are pretty reasonably priced too, I do fancy getting the cloud peak 2 in the future, but like you said it is a popular tent (similar and cheaper than the Allack), cheers mate, Luke👍

They're currently available, Luke. I know when I first went to get one they were mostly out of stock and the companies that had some had ramped the price right up!

All great tents with good and bad points. I find the cloud up 2 quite narrow when sitting up. The Vik 2 is simple and up in seconds. Wee bit of condensation in the morning. I could feel the cloud up airy and fresh when sitting up and holding the heat better when lying down. The Vik 2 was the opposite but the headroom in that thing is phenomenal. All great tents tbh it’s just weighing it up and try not to end up with plastic boxes filled with tents…..oops
@SummitOrNothing2 жыл бұрын
Yea - you make some valid pioints there Derek. The Vik 1 is lovely and light if you know its gonna be warm and dry, the Cloud Up 2 is a great tent, but I know what you mean about narrow, its one of the only Naturehike tents without a cross member. Also, once that side wind hits it, its not much fun

Hi Trev, love the channel and your tent reviews are very informative. I was wondering what is your opinion on the 210T Cloud Up 2 vs the 20D Cloud Up 2, is it worth paying a bit extra for the 20D version or is 210T good enough for UK weather? Thanks

@@joeshmooo Hi. Do you have the 20D or 210T version of Cloud up 2?! Can you get it in colour green? I'm deciding whether to go for the 20D version in green if they have it. I read somewhere that (i can't remember which version) can make the inner floor of the tent more slippery and make your sleeping bag slide around? Do you any comments or experience with that. I made the mistake of getting the 1 man version, cloud up 2. As on the diagrams it had the bigger vestibule, still not a ideal cook area! Wish I had of got your recommendation instead of trying to be clever. Settled on the phox11v2 now🥰

@@smokie33 I have the 20D in forest green. As for the sleeping mat/pad slipping, yes it can be a bit slippy when not pitched on the flat. But, the pad material can have a lot to do with that too. No tent in this price range is ever perfect and there will be compromises to be made. However, out of the 3 tents I own this is still my favourite.
