Abit of an old video here... But would this motor go alright with some boost?

I built a big block 454 with the same Hyd. cam set up, but I used 1.8 rockers to facilitate a little more duration on the intake. That motor at 11.1 made a little over 700hp and 646 ft lbs. Torque. Dart makes great blocks. Brodix makes great heads. And you have to learn to port(by hand). No nitrous ...yet. My 496 made 82 more hp. Torque was up only 18 points. I can't wait to build a 632!

Can I put a dart. 400 in my truck as a daily driver? With more torque than horsepower.

There are numerous KZbin posters who say all heads, even Darts, need to be fixed by a competent machine shop. They say the valve seats, valve guides, and bent stems are common. QUESTION is, do you re-machine the heads you use? Do you check the seats with Dyekem for proper seating? Check the valve guide for being too tight fit? Or do you always just bolt on the heads as you get them from the manufacturer? Thanks

Damn I wish it was a basic supercharger kit on this test like a P1SC on like 7 or 8 psi

427 is hard to get the static compression down. -27cc dished pistons still leave about 10.5:1 with 64cc heads.

@MrCoolwaterman lots of drag racers and older guys are afraid of fuel injection. Some classes in racing require carbs.

I would not run nitrous through hypereutectic pistons unless you want to scrap them out of the bottom of the pan.

they didnt either they upgraded them to forged

I did not see ware they said they upgraded the pistons.

Why lifters, ignition wires, cast iron, fixed cams etc... Seems to me like these old timers don't like change. Welcome to the 25th centenary, here is my short block.. hasn't change a bit in ions.
@JayDee-bz2ge6 жыл бұрын
LOL, doubting a "pushrod" engine? That iron block is cheap , reliable & can handle abuse "heat" , nitrous, turbo's, all day long, no sweat. And variable cam timing? That's not for high output engines, lol... It's to maximize "efficiency" , especially with mild or small engines. Sounds impressive on paper, but more world records are made with USA, pushrod V-8 powerplants , period ! .
@ldnwholesale85526 жыл бұрын
Why change what works? The LS is a newer generation engine but when modified makes no more power and is a BIT lighter. Go the other way and look at Fords hitech OHC engines. Cost more and make less power. And are huge top heavy things as well.

Can't blame you for jealousy... Ford pimped flatheads until 1954... Chrysler through 1959... Chevy always OHV... from start in 1900 onwards...
