The Sun dolphin kayak. The best kayak money can buy. I’ve had four of these. I have taken mine out and ice flows, through harsh Rapids, over the top of rocks and tree logs. Needless to say, I beat the crap out of my dolphins, but they always get me there and back. An excellent little boat.

Nice that you include our lowly Canadian dollar in your pricing! I'm considering this kayak for my wife. She got me a Pelican for my birthday this month. This kayak is $479. Before taxes up my way. So I'm watching KZbin videos on all the rec kayak reviews, anyway congrats on your kayaks ,can't get over the price you got them at

I might add- if there is a chance of capsize, consider float bags. While in shallow water, fill one with water to see if it sinks. My kayak did, so I put bags in the front and rear ends.

I have a very nice fiberglass kayak. A thing of beauty I paddle with joy. BUT. I cry when I hit rocks I can’t go into shallow water areas and turn around. I can’t toss it inside my van. My buddy has a sun dolphin. It is great. He upgraded to a better kayak and I bought his Sun-dolphin. It’s a fun little boat.

Enjoyed your video, my wife bought 2x kayak five years ago, for$199 @ K Mart ( same make ). Our family uses them all the time on Big Bear Lake ,Ca . I am not a small man 210 lbs nor is my wife a small...TMI..Best to get out on still water choppy conditions your butt gets wet, the back storage is Not water proof. Plastic is a little flexible on top where hatch is . Mine bent in do to winter storage from other people not noticing heavy items fell on it . Will need to put extra seals, thicker. The seat is thin also adding waterproof bottom padding . Two hours setting on hard plastic ouch. Good leg position adjustable A + H2O = fun..

Yeah these kayaks certainly do not have any waterproof areas! We got cheap stadium cushions to make the seats more comfy. Thanks so much for your comments!

Am considering getting into the kayak sport. We dont really have good rivers or lakes here but a really really really beautiful ocean protected by reefs. Most kayaks would rip my bank ac. Not this one. Anyway. Nice video man. I think this one will be good with a few modifications such as fins and rudder.

If there's a chance of waves getting water inside, a sit on top might be a better option for that unless it's calm!

@@hanas_340 yeah every type has trade offs. For example ours are fine on our river but we do try to face into any wakes from boats so we don’t get capsized. The sit-on type do have a higher center of gravity but no chance of getting flooded. Ocean kayaks are usually long and sleek and sit in, but like you said they’ll break your bank. It’s a shame you can’t easily try before you buy, because if your waters are calm enough, these could be a good option.

No we still use and enjoy these kayaks. Bigger/better ones are out there, but they are more costly and harder to handle!
