Ms Muddy Toes thanks for checking it out👍🏻 I’m glad it helped you. I usually clean my filters out once every 2-3 months. Really seems to help with nitrates

So the "quick connector" where the hoses attach to the filter also stops the water from draining down the hoses when you open it?

Are we meant to always use aquarium water, rather than fresh water, for cleaning biomedia and for refilling the filter after cleaning?

Shouldn't yhe pollyfill be the last thing the water hits before going back into the tank?

Hii actually after cleaning and when i set it up. There is air leakage can you pls tell how to fix this
@cichlidscape2 жыл бұрын
Hi garina, probably just a little air that the filter hasn’t purged yet. Just tilt it a little all four ways and that should help👍🏻

Cool video I just did one on the same filters. Nice tank and fish. It is crazy how much debris get in there.

Hi, Very recently I bought Sunsun HW 304-B canister filter. I found the UV light is not working continuously and always blinking from the beginning. Is this normal or it has to lighting continuously without blinking.

I can’t remember where but someone recommended a few bio rings or pebbles in the bottom of the canister but I don’t recall why. Ideas?
@FootyHerper104 жыл бұрын
Think the idea there is that the larger balls or ceramic rings will catch larger debris before it gets to clog the coarse, medium and fine sponge
@-a-cb-l90004 жыл бұрын
When you put anything at the bottom, of the canister, it has to fit just right or you will never get it closed.

Does the uv melt the plastic trays?
@cichlidscape7 жыл бұрын
D cichlid lover I don't run the uv 24/7. Usually only for 1 day in the week as that should kill all free floating algae. No melting as of yet👍🏻

Nice...id advise puting poly fill on the top tray also what I have done is use bio rings on the bottom of the canister base it' collects aload of waste works perfect 🤙
@cichlidscape7 жыл бұрын
electric water ok ok I'll look into it. The polyfil is mad! Haha literally had the bag over a year now & it cost me 7 bucks. Mad👌🏻
@electricwater837 жыл бұрын
Cichlidscape • it works perfect it's cheaper going to Primark geting a pillow 2pound it cost but can't have any chemicals in it ya need the ones the arent fire resistance
@cichlidscape7 жыл бұрын
electric water over here they do big bags at Walmart for 7 bucks, all safe. Such a money saver
@SCHEY1016 жыл бұрын
poly fill should be on the lower tray above a sponge. Rings or bio balls go at the top as the last thing the water passes. A bit of gravel right at the bottom is a good idea, it helps break up any larger matter that enters the filter. hmm hmm. Glad we cleared that one up.
@Poisonwalnut5 жыл бұрын
Electric Water no never put polyfill on top it should only be on bottom rack if poly fill is on top of bio media it will make it easier to clog the media which is obviously not a good thing to do

Damn, thanks for the quick reply! I think I'm gonna pick up the one right below this for my 40 gallon breeder planted aquarium, the 303b. UV sterilization seems preferable to medication for keeping pathogens out of the water.
@cichlidscape7 жыл бұрын
varanidguy no problem👍🏻 it would work perfectly for that. I don't run the uv 24/7 but for one day in the week. Apparently you can have issues with melting trays if you do
@varanidguy7 жыл бұрын
Yessir, I've been watching videos and reading forums, found that out. I knew going into it that running it 24/7 is unnecessary anyway and prematurely burns out the bulb...good to know that more importantly it can cause damage.

I didn't like this filter. It has leak two times randomly at night. It was good that I notice it right away. Also, the water pump became weak after 4-5 months. I do regular cleaning and all but still didn't function properly. Also, beware of handling, the connectors are made of very weak plastic.

Never throw out filter media for anyone watching this, it contains plenty of beneficial bacteria, just rinse in tank water and reuse until it's totally falling apart.
@cichlidscape6 жыл бұрын
Power Head with the bio media and the course sponges I have enough bio filtration in the filter. You wouldn’t want to keep the polyfil and rinse it as clogs so easily. Better to get a fresh patch👍🏻 but you are right, always rinse media out with tank water....as I did👍🏻
