Jess, as a mother of 4 I'd like to give you a bit of a recommendation: Short stories!!😁 Reading is def going to be put on the backburner most times but there still will be plenty of great little reading times. Emphasis on little. I carried a book of short stories in my diaper bag and had a few on my table beside my bed. When I finished a short story in one sitting I felt accomplished because it was the best I could do at that time. 😊💗 Best to you on the new chapter in your life!!

This is one of my favorite book talks from you! I never continued with Love and other thought experiments, for some reason I only read the first 50 pages, I will definitely pick it up again. I wonder if you’d consider making a best of audiobooks you’ve listened to? Like _good_ books that actually works listening to? I remember you saying in one of your recent videos that your mind easily wanders off with them, and I’m the same, they need to be way more plot driven than I actually prefer (not a great crime novel lover for instance) for me to actually pay attention. Never the less, I always pick the wrong audiobooks, books I would like to read, but that are more in the language than in the plot. It’s a waste of money for the most time. I’m listening to The Glass Hotel now, and though I don’t really think it is the best I’ve read, it totally works as an audiobook, because it is basically a crime novel. If I could only have both, a plot driven, excellent story (that isn’t all about who dunnit) that works listening to! Love from Oslo, Norway xx

First of all I saved this video for my morning after a long trip and watched it w my coffee, and it was such a treat! Second of all, love the length and feel free to ramble on for hours and know that I would watch it all😂 third of all, if in the future u feel like doing a longer man booker series (maybe not the next couple years bc baby is coming! But in the future if you feel called to!) I would find it very interesting and loved the discussion here. As always my tastes align w yours in many places, I studied lit in college and found it all very boring (lots of white man professors where I went reading lots of white many books, so much so that I’m not in a book club where we read NO white men) so it’s nice to revisit a more literary reading of books that is not boring at ALL and has some variety and diversity. Plus JVM is my dude😂 and has been for years so I love that you love him! I had bought a Christmas carol at the beginning of this month for fun, and am DELIGHTED u picked it for book club since I already have it right on my nightstand 🤩

I would actually delve into the Southern Reach trilogy first. His favourite of mine is Veniss Underground - I think that book is a masterpiece, and I'm writing my PhD thesis on it - but as with most of his work, it's all very New Weird, so don't be put off.

I was very interested to hear your take on Hood Feminism. Personally I had mixed feelings - the content was very important but I felt it was maybe under-edited and poorly cited. Some of the essays seemed to ramble, rather than really delivering their point.
