I would like to see Nintendo give us a dedicated Metroid Direct in May. 20 minutes long, where it starts off with a 3 minute Prime 2 Remastered trailer and then 5 minutes talking about it then saying it's shadow dropping (digitally at the end of the broadcast and will be available in physical form in 2 weeks) Then they move on to a 3 minute trailer for Prime 3 Remastered or Prime 3 HD if they just give it the Skyward Sword HD treatment I'd be okay with that. Then a 5 minute breakdown on it and saying Prime 3 Remastered/HD will be available in September. Then they say we have one last portion of our presentation, it's been a long time since we restarted this project, but while we aren't ready to release it just yet, we can finally give you your first look at Metroid Prime 4, please, take a look. And we get a 1.5 minute sneak peek video then 2 minutes of Tanabe talking about the long road Prime 4 has taken and it ends with him saying it is scheduled for a Q1 2025 release but look forward to more details on it later this year. (September Direct for it's full blow out reveal)

Nintendo already said they are not going to stick with the generation concept, so they will still release Metroid 4 for the regular switch

I believe that it will be a cross gen game like BOTW that was a cross between Wii U and Switch so I think the same thing will happen with Prime 4.

Metroid is not a system seller, it is not up to Zelda levels of sales. Also Retro is not Nintendo EAD or whatever they are called now, their team is not big enough to learn the switch, master it, make a game from the ground up for it, then learn and master the new system and make a second version of the same game on that other console all with in the past 5 years lol.

MP4 will probably be one game card for both systems: if it detects that it is running on Switch 2, load extra visual enhancements and effects, otherwise run basic mode.

Backwards compatibility on the new system means you can plop in any Switch game and it will run. Won't enhance much except for maybe improve loading times.

What if Metroid Prime 4 is saved for the next Nintendo console as an exclusive for it? Like the new Nintendo console will be capable of higher resolution and better quality gameplay, this could make sense for a long awaited game like Metroid Prime 4 and the new console on the way.

The next direct will definitely have Prime 2 and 3 but I'm not sure if that's when we'll hear about Prime 4 I'm not sure if they want to take the excitement away from 2 and 3. But I would think that the beginning of the Prime 4 stuff comes the direct after they reveal 2 and 3. For a while I was saying that I thought Prime 4 would be only exclusive to the next console but I'm realizing that that does shut them out of a massive Market so I'm thinking it'll be cross-generation but it will definitely have a version that takes advantage of the next console.

That’s an interesting point about prime 4’s trailer potentially overshadowing the prime 2 & 3 announcement. It might make more sense for Nintendo to keep them separate, but if they are looked at as more simple ports I’m kinda picturing them treating it like pikmin 1+2 when it’s kinda like them saying, we know your excited for the prime 4, and btw here’s the old ones to play while you wait. It could definitely go either way but sales wise it would probably be better to keep the announcements separated. Either way, I’m really hoping prime 4 does end up being cross gen and not only released on the current switch.

I really love the whole Metroid series, first game I've played was Super Metroid on my old SNES, played it hundreds of times on multiple devices. I'm hyped for the other remasters of the prime games and even more hyped on 4 when it is finally announced/released.

We’re all pissed off but I think that they were about to release it on the switch then switch 2 got a sudden premature scheduled release,so retro got a slap on the cheek and are deciding wether to release it on the switch or try to retrofit it unto the switch 2 hardware and augmented graphical capabilities

Nintendo may not be looking at MP4 the way many are thinking. They very well could be just making the Switch version. IF the Switch 2 is backwards compatible, they won’t need two versions of MP4. IF they have it looking as good or better than MP Remastered and running 60fps there’s really no need for a second version, outside of some improvements to performing better on a Switch 2. Just a thought.

You'd be surprised but there are A LOT of pseudo-open world 3d Metroidvanias or Action Adventure games with elements of Metroidvania genre. Journey To The Savage Planet or High on Life for example

I think it should be saved for 2025 as one of the launch titles for Switch 2 that also has a port on the original Switch. And of course, there will be other Switch 2 launch titles given Metroid hasn't historically be a system seller compared to Zelda, Mario, or Pokemon. But I hope for it to be the first Metroid title to reach 5 million at least; would be cool if it got to 10 million, but not going to get hopes up for that.

Game sales don't have any effect on the gamers ability to enjoy the game. Gamers have been led astray into thinking sales numbers need to be high no they don't. You aren't a stock holder, you are a gamer, play what you like and enjoy, you don't need to do anything else or worry about anything else.

If you game had a budget of say 2 million, then as long as you make, say 3 million off it, that's a success. Business has a real problem thinking that every year they need to break records and do better then ever before, this is not realistic. Lower the cost to make games, forcing the devs to actually get creative and make new fun experiences with less, then you don't need 30+ million sales lol.

Nintendo hasn't released two versions of a game before where the version on the "newer" system is just so much better visually lol. Both are basically the same. Releasing a Prime 4 version on Switch 2 and making it so much better then the Switch 1 version makes no sense. That would be crapping on the original Switch version and people would say why did you even bother making a weaker version? If there is a Switch 2 version it would only have small improvements like faster loading times and better lighting/draw distance.

Prime 4 has nothing to do with the release of the next system. Prime 4 is the final big game for Switch, the swan song. There wont be a new DK game for Switch though.
