Lyrics:
I can't believe the news today
I can't close my eyes and make it go away.
How long, how long must we sing this song?
How long, how long?
'Cos tonight
We can be as one, tonight.
Broken bottles under children's feet
Bodies strewn across the dead-end street.
But I won't heed the battle call
It puts my back up, puts my back up against the wall.
Sunday, bloody Sunday.
Sunday, bloody Sunday.
Sunday, bloody Sunday.
Sunday, bloody Sunday.
Oh, let's go.
And the battle's just begun
There's many lost, but tell me who has won?
The trenches dug within our hearts
And mothers, children, brothers, sisters
Torn apart.
Sunday, bloody Sunday.
Sunday, bloody Sunday.
How long, how long must we sing this song?
How long, how long?
'Cos tonight
We can be as one, tonight.
Sunday, bloody Sunday.
Sunday, bloody Sunday.
Wipe the tears from your eyes
Wipe your tears away.
I'll wipe your tears away.
I'll wipe your tears away.
I'll wipe your bloodshot eyes.
Sunday, bloody Sunday.
Sunday, bloody Sunday.
And it's true we are immune
When fact is fiction and TV reality.
And today the millions cry
We eat and drink while tomorrow they die.
The real battle just begun
To claim the victory Jesus won
On...
Sunday, bloody Sunday
Sunday, bloody Sunday.

PLLLLease... "Every note, perfect or _not!"_ This is probably the best version of the song in existence. It's perfect the way it is. At least music was still real then! Also, at least Bono was still REAL then. This new Bono is not Bono, it's a completely different person 100%... Men simply don't change the way he changed... And people don't have plastic surgery to look worse. His entire features are different, in a negative way. He doesn't even have the same voice! This is the real Bono. I don't know where this Bono went, but he's absolutely not the Bono presented to the whole world today! It's a bit scary.

Very powerful and touching performance of U2. Iconic! I am listening and watching this video while the latest Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the long drawn out war between Russia and Ukraine are going on... this song although referring to a different situation is applicable here as well. Sadly, the peace and love that music and musicians share are not shared by the leaders and guardians of nations. Maybe one of the sides is compelled to react to save their own community/nation from those who have either provoked or aggravated them. It's an irony and yet a valid question when Bono sings, "How long must we sing this song?" Wish for ultimate peace and harmony in the world.

Malignant narcissists do not change...ever....this is why they have to be killed. Malignant narcissists are some of the most dangerous people who walk the planet, and the FLOCK to the power, control & admiration that politics affords them. i.e. Hitler, Stalin, Idi Amin, Putin, and trump's psychopathology isn't too far from malignant narcissism and is certainly full blow NPD. It's not that humanity doesn't learn, it's that narcissists, malignant narcissists, socopaths and psychopaths cannot change...EVER...as it's psychopathology that warps their moral character (which is why they are known as characterological disorders). This is NOT mental illness. Mental illness can be medicated, and psychopathology and characterological disorders are disorders of moral character.

As a 90s kid (born in April of 90') i fell in love with music VERY young. I had all older friends and i was the youngest of all my brothers and sisters so i was introduced to great music very early on. I never thought great music would be dead so quickly. Today music is total garbage and most modern artists should be ashamed of themselves. I still play guitar and drums and write songs but i would never want to be a part of what music has become. Its all perfect voices singing about nothing interesting with zero heart. But its perfectly autotuned and written about the trendiest things so people accept it. Its like we handed to least sincere people the keys to the musical kingdom and turned our back on anyone with sincere music to share. Id rather listen to sincere music sung by musicians with crappy voices over insincere music written by 30 "producers" sung by someone with a cookie cutter "perfect" voice thats had all the life and human element "perfected" out of it.

LYRICS: (In case you need them!) I can't believe the news today Oh, I can't close my eyes And make it go away How long How long must we sing this song How long, how long 'Cause tonight, we can be as one Tonight Broken bottles under children's feet Bodies strewn across the dead end street But I won't heed the battle call It puts my back up Puts my back up against the wall Sunday, Bloody Sunday Sunday, Bloody Sunday Sunday, Bloody Sunday And the battle's just begun There's many lost, but tell me who has won The trench is dug within our hearts And mothers, children, brothers, sisters Torn apart Sunday, Bloody Sunday Sunday, Bloody Sunday How long How long must we sing this song How long, how long 'Cause tonight, we can be as one Tonight, tonight Sunday, Bloody Sunday Sunday, Bloody Sunday

Man, if there's one memory that sticks out for me as a kid of 12 years old, it was seeing this video on MTV. I had never heard of U2, and I had no idea what this song was about. But I knew that it was an anthem of great importance and coupled with the flames high above the stage, Bono's march to the opening beat and those melancholy guitar chords, I was mesmerized.

I have been a U2 fan since I first heard them. As a bass guitarist I have huge respect for Adam Clayton. Certain songs I play every Sunday are "Sunday Bloody Sunday", and "New Year's Day" come December 31st. Of course I listen to all of their songs year round, and can play a vast majority of them, but it does crack me up when I'm playing and the audience has no clue as to what the true meaning behind most of the songs are. Let them be ignorant, I suppose. Anyway, U2 has inspired my life and countless others. Love you guys! Keep on rocking!

U2 is my oldest love in music. Bono's voice, Edge's great sound and guitar playing and the solid and original spine of the band with Larry and Adam who are always forgotten... Juts one of the best bands still active that never changed a band member and that was never afraid to take chances. I would love your input on our last video. Hard to stay "hungry" when you literally reach the pinnacle of rock music and stardom and become generational wealthy. That they continue to produce great music is a testament to how hungry and great they are. Many other bands and singers do and would have faded in to oblivion or voluntarily bowed out after obtaining that level of success.

SBS is so relevant at the end of 2021. "I can't believe the news today" is what everyone in Europe and possibly on earth will be saying in a few months as Ukraine and the world drift toward all out war. _Influential US Senator Roger Wicker, who is on the powerful US Armed Services Committee, said recently that the US might have to start a nuclear war with Russia to defend Ukraine. Other US politicians and a German geo-political expert also voiced this view_ I'm from India btw. But don't worry! I believe, as did 85 percent of the greatest scientists in history like Sir Isaac Newton, Michael Faraday, James Clerk Maxwell etc, that Jesus Christ will return to finally bring peace to humanity. We are all children of the same mother the Bible says and so does science with mtDNA results. Please take care all,and call your parents more often and hug your loved ones tighter. The Bible did say that God is Love personified. :)

@@charleysangel2866 Once upon a time (30 years ago) there was U2. Nobody complains that they don't keep making good music cert, commercial music. Let's say that they "had" to adapt to the times, if they had "kept" their "rebellious" line perhaps today they would not even be a band anymore, as happened to other bands that have not "bent" and adapted to making music to make number instead of music to make "history". They sang the "stories" of the struggle for Irish independence, they sang the rebellion of those who did not want to give up and wanted their rights respected. Today they sing songs in favor of globalization and the loss of the culture and identity of peoples. I think they will end their careers by writing songs for cartoons. I personally stopped listening to them after "Zooropa" when I realized how they were turning to more "commercial" music.

That's because back in 1983 when this was recorded live, there was no such thing as a smart phone with a camera on it. The only mobile phones available back then had to be professionally installed in your car and you could only use them in your car. Not to mention, the frequency spectrum that they ran on was all analogue and not digital like it is today. Because no company wanted to make investments in mobile phones at the time, the FCC gave the analogue frequency spectrum away for free to a company called US Cellular, which then made a killing off installing and servicing mobile phone in people's cars. Then hand held mobile phones came along around the late 1980's, but they were so big, heavy, bulky since they relied on the analogue frequency spectrum that not many people actually carried them. Also, if you wanted to call someone in another city, other then yours, you had to call US Cellular and ask them for the roaming access number for a particular city. Then you would call that number first and then when it answered, you dialed in the number plus area code of the mobile phone you were trying to reach.

This was one of the top music videos on MTV videos in 1987. Went to my first U2 concert (and first concert ever) in 1987 as a teenager. Since then I’ve been blessed to attend 8 more U2 concerts with the most recent being in 2018. It’s a funny thing to get old 😂 with your favorite rock band. Very happy to see these guys still have the energy and stamina to put on an awesome show.

Larry Mullen Jnr drum intro is one of the best in music history, rarely does the drummer get the credit. After all he did form U2, not Bono.

@@grogscol My sister in law's dad sold the drum kit he used to play and I could have jammed to this on it. Disappointing.

@@pauljordan4452 would still take a lot of effort to learn the drums in the first place to learn that rhythm though
