I’ll have to investigate the gathering foot. I made three tiered dress one with elastic one with gathering threads and one on overlocker . I liked the overlocker method ,but the foot might be the answer. Hope everything goes well fro Brontë and the baby. You will enjoy being a Nana it is the best.

Lovely catch up, as always it’s so lovely to see you. Thank you so so much for mentioning my Marnie again. Your Marnie looks fabulous and I love your idea of hacking it into a dress. Beautiful fabrics too. Have the best time away with everyone and wishing Bronte lots of love when the time comes ❤

Your blouse looks so good on you. The fabric is lovely. Exciting becoming a Grandmother! You will love it. Running out of storage space? You could buy the house next door. (That is what my husband said in jest one day.) Editing my comment to tell you McCalls has a pattern sale $4.99 US for the shirt dress you made. There are others on sale and some are digital if you want to have a shop on line.

Your newest Marnie turned out so great! Love the new fabrics, too, and I really hope you get to film a little of next week's adventure. Wish I could join you ladies in G&G :) Take care of yourself, Rachel. Grief is hard. When my mum passed away, the minister said: "Watch out for that 6 month mark. There is usually a new wave of it then." How right he was. Fortunately, things get better! Take care xx

Oh, that dark purple fabric is beautiful! Not a good colour for me so I'm going to admire it on you. 😍 Could you use a sleeve you like and smooch that onto the McCall's dress? Because I agree that it would show off the print well. And spring might be approaching, but I'm still very much planning long sleeves. We've had snow on easter in the past! Enjoy your girls' weekend next week, and I hope it helps to lift your spirit. ❤

Lovely hearing you again on a Sunday and you have some exciting times ahead. It is absolutely amazing seeing your grandchild enter the world. I’ve been with both of my daughters when they had their first. I felt as exhausted as them by then end of it but so privileged to be part of it. As we approach the due date of grandchild no 6 here my advise is to have a nanna bag packed as they tend to ring when your least expecting them too😂 As for sewing I love your fabrics & your makes 😊

With the Minverva moon print why not make it into the McCalls dress but sleeveless and then you could put a long sleeved top under it in the autumn winter or without in spring/summer. Maybe not a high summer frock, but nice for spring... or summer evening wear (moons...).

Play with your new gathering foot with gingham print, especially of 1cm squares. Then produce different sample lengths, each sample using different stitch lengths. With the samples you can see the results and work out the varying lengths used of gathered to none gathered fabric. Simples.

So jealous (in a good sort of way 😊) about your trip to Guthrie and Ghani! I am from Washington state in the US. I am not familiar with any really wonderful garment fabric stores as lovely as that one near me. My husband and I are visiting the UK in September. I hope to shop some brick-and-mortar fabric stores. We are a little nervous about navigating Birmingham. Do you have any suggestions for Scotland, Yorkshire, and Derby? We are definitely stopping in Newcastle to see First For Fabrics.
