An older text, but still worth a read, Rabbi Kushner's "Why Bad Things Happen to Good People" . Another quite good, tough read "Lament for a Son" by Nicholas Wolterstorf who is a minister whose son dies. Excellent books where men of faith struggle with their God over the deaths of their sons. Death is a part of our earthly journey. I've never let my kids use the words "fair" or " deserve"....because who is to decide what is the bottom line? What is fair? Why should any of us deserve anything? Our job is to live each day as best we can until we die : )

That was one of the most deepest Homily you have ever given. Totally captivated me and I envisioned each episode as I've read about Jarius and the woman many times. Thank you. I'm so sorry you suffer from Lymes. I pray you don't have severe episodes anymore. Again, your opening, let's keep Sunday Holy, I fail at that every Sunday and roll my eyes knowing that God knows this. My job, it makes me mad. But anyway...God's helping me with this issue. Sometimes I can see Him hitting his forehead saying, you haven't learned yet, my child, to control your mouth. Prayers for all, prayers for you and your brother, Cragely, all of your parishioners, students, animals and those who think God causes tragedy. I pray they one day feel the spirit of God's goodness and learn to accept and forgive what pains us as God's love gets us thru it.

Wanted to say for years I had Alpha Gal from 3 Lone Star tick bites. The thing that helped me a lot when I wasn't sure of the ingredients I was ingesting was a simple allergy pill antihistamine, as it blocked the histamine in my gut with the toxic bacteria. It took me 5 years but every once in awhile I will find a tick on me and I take a pill just to be safe.

Hello, Father Dave. Thank you for an inciteful and spiritually-filled Mass. Your homilies always make me examine my life and question myself about fulfilling my love for God. I often shed a tear or two in my musings. You speak to the mind, but more importantly, you speak to the heart. When you spoke about death today it brought back many memories. When I was a child I lost both of my parents on separate occasions. All I was ever told was that it was God's will. Why did God want me to lose both my parents? Where would we live? How could I care for my younger sister? Now after all these years (50+), I understand that it was not God but the evil one who did this. Thank you for clarifying this in my mixed-up head. I stuck by God but with confusion.

Thank you Fr. Dave for spending time with us on Sundays, anytime you are on KZbin. Thank you for helping me keep my faith with being high risk to COVID19 illness with Factor V Leiden gene, quiet but present. I love the extra boost you have given me with "I didn't choose, it but I can use it" to support others who are also high risk, support others that are having to wear their protective masks, and continue positive thoughts that COVID 19 will lessen all over the world. Now I have faith that I am helping God protecting myself on Earth and helping others also stay as healthy as they can. Feeling so blessed being a mother of 4 children, after 3 miscarriages, with my last child a most beautiful surprise and healthy and full of potential. thank you for my blessings, both challenging and delightful.

Fr. Dave, your homily today spoke to me just like last week's. As you know, I lost my 29yo son, Stephen, four years ago. I do not blame God! My faith is what helps me get through every day and through my grief every day! My faith tells me that I will see Stephen again one day! I know that he is no longer in pain, hurting, can breathe freely, and is in the arms of Jesus! I don't believe that God is a vengeful God! I do believe that COVID was to be a wake up call for us. God was trying to tell us that He doesn't like how we are acting in the world today! Unfortunately, many haven't heeded what God wants us to do! The loss of a child is the worst thing a parent could ever go through! I don't believe, as you stated in your homily, that God wants us 2 a child! Unfortunately, many in the groups I belong to blame God and have turned away from Him! It breaks my heart but I do keep them in my prayers every day! I keep all of you in my prayers! I pray for your brother and Diane's son that God will heal them! Thank you for all you do and for guidance in strengthening my faith in God. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
