I also find I flat more on gravel tyres, especially if the tread allows/encourages sharp bits of rock to line up in the tread. I’m on virtual slicks at the moment and am very happy.

That's a good turn out - gravel riding is certainly getting more and more popular from what I've seen online and from looking at where and what other riders are riding. It looked a good fun ride as well - technical bits and some faster bits too. Strangely quiet in those two tunnels... like something was missing... 🤔 So good to see Julie back on two wheels the other day, it won't be long before she's back out with the rest of you by the look of it! Good ride!

@@micks61 Hey Mick, you're right, this was the ride before the Purbecks where I referred to missing Julie on the group ride. Being surrounded by the sound of gravel again was good though. Julie's off the blood thinners now so hopefully we can get a few little rides done in the coming weeks 😁

Mike you know the wheelers are my favorite and the best. I am sure you are taking great care of julie. How are you doing? Times like these I consider strategic inflection points in our lives. I am also a care giver to the love of my life.

That was a very nice ride, Mike. As another commenter below has said, I am so envious of all of the different areas and terrains that you have to ride in the southern UK. I am so ready to relocate. Regarding tire tech, I swear by tubeless and Dynaplug. The slime takes care of the thorns and goatheads, and the plugs take care of things like 4cm wood screws. Take care of yourself, and please give Julie my best (and a hug). I'm sending more positive energy to both of you.

@@simonguard5087 I correctly have 45mm Pirelli Cintaurato M, they've proved to be a good all-rounder, still got some miles left in them but probably not lasting as long as I'd like, that's the price for being nice and supple and a good roller. They do have to carry more weight than most too but overall I'm pretty pleased and will probably get them again.
