Hi, many thanks for your kind comments - much appreciated. Yes I probably made it look too exciting 😁😁 - Sundays were my least favourite days in the 1950's & 60's. I have a timetable for Huntingdon from the 1950s and a few trains did run on Sundays (in my defense!) ... David
@robt21514 жыл бұрын
@@davidhyde4329 Hi David. My main railway-related memory of Sundays in the 60's is each week, after church, going to the main station in Nairobi. There was little traffic at that time of day but there was often a Beyer Garratt 4-8-4+4-8-4 waiting for its next duty, plus the actual carriage from which the Man-eater of Tsavo snatched its most famous victim. Highlight of the visits was lunch at the station restaurant - a seven-course silver service menu costing 10 shillings. I can still recall some of those flavours!

A really nice layout and the scenery is amazing and very well run. But the thing that lets it down in my opinion is the HOOK, BARS for Couplings on the Locomotives and running stock. Sorry my friend hope you don’t mind my comments. Regards from Ron. 👍😃

This is one super realistic railway , being a lad from Bristol , born in 63, this brings back fond memories , we had a railway track from Bristol to Bath run past our housing estate , though it was decomissioned in the late sixties early seventies. They have kept a part of the Bitton to Bath section running though. And used to run a steam train on there , l think they still do . Fascinating stuff David 👍

That was a real treat to watch. You've obviously put a lot of hard work and skill into that model railway and it"s really paid off. It was a good idea to edit out the non-railway aspects of the video which aided the "suspension of disbelief" allowing the viewer to become immersed, and made the whole thing very enjoyable. Thanks!

Thank you very much! - a lot of hard work - worth it though.
I was born in the mid 50s, and I am no train nut, but do like them and remember them well. The sheer hard work put into the imagitive and nostalgic themes in this video are to put it mildly superlative. You are obviously one very talented, and gifted individual who leaves little to the imagination. Thank you very much for sharing your video Sir 👍 Tam.

Hi Tam I was born a little earlier than you in the late 40s, I enjoyed train spotting with my friends but I too was no train nut. So glad you liked it.❤❤❤ ... David

What a splendid layout and beautifully shot video. I particularly enjoyed the shot through the signal box window; incredibly realistic. Now I've found your channel I'll be looking out for more videos.

Many thanks Jonathan, many have liked the signal box shot - fun to do. No, I did not use DCC for any of the sound in this video. I made a completely separate sound track using actual recordings of preserved locomotives. The Baby De tic was difficult as none are in preservation. However I did find a similar loco restoration that was fitted with a Baby Deltic engine. I have been informed by those who remember them, that this distinctive sound is accurate. The station announcement were read by my granddaughter. I recorded her voice and added some echo etc. Appreciate your very kind comments. Happy New Year ... David

I was thinking on what you said in the introduction, about not having a loop. That is something adding to the realism of your layout. Hi usframe many thanks for your comments. Thanks, that's the way I see it too. Nice thing about the look though when people visit is that you can have trains running continuously.
