I totally get what you’re trying to say. I’m 66 years old that shoot guns, cut hay, brush hog fields, work on tractors and everything us old timers do that grew up in the country. We’re different than the woke crowd. That’s a good thing. Never thought I’d see my wonderful USA turn to crap so fast like it has in the last 4 years. Love your videos Hickok !!!!!!

I’m 36 and can’t believe the younger generation. My friends are all like minded also and are disgusted with the way this country is going. We work our tails off and fix all our own stuff and live outdoors. It’s just crazy to us.

"It's good to be on the right side of the grass." Haven't heard that one in a while. Great reminder!! Great morning watching you shoot a classic. Just imagine how many people may have been fed by that beauty. Glas you were able to reconnect with colleagues and former students. Know that you made an impact. Maybe not with every student, but with the majority of them. A good life, sir!

Oh boy! A pre 64 model 70 in 30-06. That's always been one of my dream guns. I've owned a few pre 64 94's. I sold the last one I had a couple of years ago to a good friend. His boy was going to be going on his first deer hunt, so I let go of my 94. It pained me a little bit, but we're only caretakers of the old classics for a little while. I still get pleasure from it as I got a picture of my friend's son proudly holding my old 94 in the woods on his first deer hunt. That's where it belongs, not just sitting in a safe.

My first rifle was a model 70 featherweight in 243. I was still in High school 1960. It was used and killed many deer in the San Diego back country. When I moved to Alaska in 1970 I bought a pre 64 model 70 in 300 H&H. That took several moose and caribou. Wish I still had both of them.

I was in my early 30’s when I finally went to college to become a minister. I loved English classes and composition writing. I love writing my manuscripts when writing my sermons. My professor was a wife to a Methodist pastor. She really took me under her wing and gave me some of her husband’s sermon manuscripts to study. She was a precious teacher and person. Thank you for your time as a teacher that probably cared about your students like my writing professor.

( future general) Patton shooting in the Olympics was given a miss for a one hole 2 shots target kerfuffle. He didn’t get the gold. In the book ‘the accurate rifle’ a device was described for bench rest shooting. It was an electric powered reel of paper behind the target so the holes were strung out on the paper and hits could be counted.

I was one of the nerds who loved and greatly benefited from sentence diagramming. The way it breaks down and displays the parts of speech always made grammar much easier to comprehend for me. I went to a private high school that had a wonderful English teacher who rode me so hard that I was able to test through English 101 & 102 at the University of Louisville.

Patton had a low score .. I think it was in his Olympic decathlon ... in which , he said, he drilled the same hole, but was counted as a miss. His decathlon pick was due to not being the best at anything, but real good at everything. "The Patton Papers" are a good read.

The statements you spoke about owning and voting ring so true with me. I am a Libertarian and I believe that freedom means just that. No politician should have the right to take away any of our rights. You really spoke the truth. Thanks for everything you do for our shooting sport and our rights in general. My Post 64 is spring feed of course so the feel is less precise than the Mauser action. On the plus side it is an easy solid bolt design a breeze to clean and maintain. Good trigger and simple wood make it fun to cart around and shoot. I handload so most of my stuff is lightweight and low pressure. Thanks for the show you make me want to burn ammo every time I watch a vid. CZ makes good Mauser Action I have one all solid steel no alloy stuff.

Hello Hickok. I did some trading this week and got my hands on an S&W model 13-2 nickel plate 4" inch 357 magnum revolver in 95% condition. I watched both of your videos on it again at least 2 times. Lol. I like the older stuff. The quality is just different. I also got an Aero Precision 10.5" AR pistol that's brand new. It's not a bad little AR. I traded my Saiga in 5.56 for both of them. I never found anyone to convert it. I just couldn't trust anyone to know what they're doing. It was just too Non-AK for me. Lol. Life is good. Thanks for the great show today. I just thought I'd share my adventures this week. 😂😅😊

The pre64 mod 70’s in pristine condition are maintaining their price. Mine I inherited, a 30-06 was well used but in good condition could only get a 790.00 bid. Never met my minimum so since I couldn’t sell it, I sent it to the gun smith had it rebarreled with a lightweight hart in 25-06 and the old wood stock was replaced with a Macmillan. He almost cried but said it would work great for the project since it isn’t collector grade. Shoots excellent. And was cheaper than buying a new one.

The Winchester Mod 70 pre war and pre 64 were based on the Mouser action with what is known as Controlled Feed, meaning as the bolt stripped the round from the clip the rim slid under the claw and was captured by the bolt the whole way into the chamber and is known as a dangerous game rifle. Where as a Remington 700 round just glides along in front of the bolt and can fall out if the rifle is turned sideways

My Model 70 is a pre-war, and also 30 Gvt 06. Late 1941 production, so just barely pre-war. It is in unmolested, factory condition, although showing some wear from age. I am only the 2nd owner, and purchased it in 2001. 2 owners in 83 years is likely unusual for any firearm. Another neat fact that the numbers geeks will appreciate is that the 5 digit serial number on my rifle has the numbers 1,2,3,4,5, although not in numerical order. When my eyes were younger I could consistently hit a clay pigeon at 100 yards (stationary, and the orange color made it visible) using the buckhorn sights.

Hickok 45--REI served a small group of mountaineers who ordered such things as ice axes and boots back in the 50 and early 60's. All sorts of folks were into that here in the PNW. Later the Business MBA's took over and started selling just about everything. I would guess all demographics buy there and are members for the 10% discount. So a butt-load of folks buy and take advantage through them but it has changed, yes everything has, in the sell sell sell.
