I’ll never forget the trip to Missoula, Montana, with my grandfather, in his 1931 Bonnie & Clyde Buick. The maximum speed was 45 MPH the ENTIRE trip and we had quite a few oil stops we needed to make, to add more oil. The car could be started by key and if there was any issues, there was also a crank start. His car was soo mint! It was like brand spanking new interior. It even had one of those foot bars that ran across the backseat floor board, so the passengers had a spot to rest their feet. All of the windows still had the original blinds you could pull down for shading. As loud as that car was, there was absolutely no way ANYBODY could sleep driving in it but it was functioning perfectly back then. My grandfather even paid the expensive yearly fee to keep his original license plates. That car drew up a whole lot of attention. Lots of people were absolutely amazed, knowing that we were driving all the way from Spokane Washington to Missoula, Montana. The car had zero issues both ways..

@@MattBowler Positive!! Twas all OEM! That car had all fluids drained and was covered in a garage for over 50 years. Those older cars aren’t by any means built like the cars today! They are much louder when driving at their peaks. We were going 45mph nearly the ENTIRE Trip. My grandfather ended up parting with that car about 17 years back. He sold it to a man, who collects older Buicks, from Europe. He was missing the 1931 from his collection. He had it shipped all the way back to Europe too. That was a pretty penny he spent!

Speaking of car design improvements, I'm so old, I remember looking at used car ads in the local newspaper and seeing listings for R&H. Which stood for the OPTIONS of radio and heater. Up here in the frozen north, (N.H.) I can't imagine anyone not opting for a heater, but they did. My Dad, just one generation earlier would put their cars up for the winter and not drive until the spring thaw. Things do change!

I've always found the recoil of the Ruger Super Blackhawk to be milder than the S&W Model 29. Not sure why. Love both guns, though! But something seems to be missing from my .44 collection..................As for getting out, I love what Longfellow said about that in "Psalm of Life". Best way to get out of a rut is to help another human, to be an inspiration. That's you, sir. That's what your channel does for people. Love the references to Orwell at the end, too. He was right, by the way. So was Huxley. And so are you.

Love my Rugers. I have a Redhawk (7.5”) Super Blackhawk (10.5”) and a GP100 (4.2”). Excellent revolvers. I purchased a Marlin 1895 SBL from the Ruger Plant in Mayodan, NC. Awesome lever action. Ruger makes great quality and durable firearms for a reasonable price. Much love from North Carolina.

Regarding (firearms) innovations, anytime the status quo has been tweaked to the point of diminishing returns, that’s when someone will develop the next revolutionary idea. Hickok45.. I agree with getting off the couch and go outside and do something. Even if it's going for a 30 minute walk. I have liver disease that was probably caused by being a diabetic for years without knowing it. I had a heart attack on April 27th and open heart triple bypass surgery on May 1st 2024 at the age of 54 (turned 55 in June) so I have to get off the couch and do something.

@hickok45 I can’t stress how much I wish I’d have taken this advice earlier. Could’ve avoided some problems. Within the past month, I found out through routine blood work that my A1c was right at the threshold for diabetes at 6.5. Wouldn’t have known, otherwise. And i’m still fairly young. Making simple dietary changes, hitting the gym, and just taking a short walk after dinner has me 20lbs lighter over the course of a few weeks, thus far. A sedentary lifestyle and a poor diet hurts us more than we realize. And as enthusiasts of these tools meant to defend our lives from bad guys, we have to ensure that we don’t forget about the invisible “bad guy,” that exists in a poor lifestyle.

I went sober and to eating a meat based diet in July 2023 ,, absolutely life changing down from 306 lbs to 247 size 46 pants to size 40 . My mental clarity is so much better , gut issues gone , hemorrhoids disappeared , no more IV RA Medicine …and I shoot my Ruger Redhawk better

Pictures from years ago you didn't see hardly any overweight people. Of all the revolvers I have, I believe I shoot my Ruger Redhawk (exact like yours) the best. I made a custom grip for it that fit my had like a glow. So maybe this is why.

I had an older super Redhawk. It was good looking but it kicked like a mule. I've got a Ruger Vaquero in .44 mag. And love shooting it. Of course it's 4 5/8" barrel help's. My S&W 29 with 6 1/2 barrel Is much more comfortable too shoot than that Redhawk in my opinion.

Closest I came to that big revolver was my S&W model 29.
