We used to go over to my Grandmom's on Saturday and picked all the veggies for Sunday dinner. In the winter we would go over and help with making noodles & pies. But summer Saturday's were all about the veggies. We'd sit on the back porch shucking corn, snapping green bean and cleaning peas Great memories!!

Some of my very favorite memories is of me and my 12 cousins sitting in my Grandmas kitchen snapping beans. All of us cousins has an oil painting of her in her chair and her country dress (ya'll know what I mean) with her big stainless bowl in her lap, beans in her hands, and a smile on her face. Thanks for bringing me back to that during this video.

A little too pricy for me, but with your family I can see how it’s a necessary appliance. Those of us who live alone get by with the norm. Lol This fixed income is something we have to live with. Everything looks great! The traditional lemonade recipe I learned from the Mennonite community when we lived in Lancaster PA was called 3-2-1 lemonade. It’s the juice of 3 lemons, 2 cups of sugar, in 1 gallon of water. But one lady told me her secret is to also add the juice from an orange. It comes out perfectly every time because the orange cuts the tartness of the lemons. And now that lemons are 75 cents each at our grocery store, it also makes it more affordable because I don’t need as many. We just made some today too!

OMG 😋 All that food you made! You shouldn’t have to cook for a couple of days after that. I love fresh homemade lemonade especially when I add homegrown raspberries, strawberries or blackberries to the lemonade. I add cheese, bacon bits and green onions to my potato cakes. Then top them with sour cream and chives. BUT those are usually THE whole meal, not a side dish.

My childhood Sundays summed up in a video! We always had Sunday dinner (it was actually lunch but we called lunch dinner in my mom's family) we always had fried chicken, mashed potatoes, milk gravy, biscuits, and corn on the cob, squash casserole or green beans, and during the summeryou can bet the veggies came fresh from the garden (a lot of winter dishes were made from summer veggies my grandma put up in the summer). I started helping my grandparents ts snap beans and shell peas when I was knee high to a grasshopper and it's a skill I'm thankful to have! Thanks for the video! It brought back alot of childhood memories!

Brooke, your meal looked amazing! Brings back memories of being at my grandparents' farm. Dusty and your boys are so blessed!! I make my cobblers with the same recipe, but I don't stir the butter into the flour mixture. The recipe my mother handed down to me says to mix the flour, sugar, and milk then pour that over the melted butter. Then pour the fruit on top of the flour mixture and to not mix. But now that I saw how you do the same recipe I'll do it your way. I love watching you my Tennessee sister!

I am also an ice connoisseur. I can’t drink water without ice. I didn’t know you could buy a stand alone machine for home use. Bagged ice is so expensive. We make the same recipe in Virginia but pour the butter first then add milk, sugar and flour batter. Top with fruit. In the winter time, we used canned peaches and added cinnamon. The oldTime Virginia cookbook I have calls it a surprise pie. I love your videos, especially this one.

Moving on I grew up in KY and my mother one day whenever I was a child told my eldest sister to “use some elbow grease on a spot on the floor” .. only to have my sister to comeback outside to where my mother was to say “I’ve looked everywhere and I can’t find it” .. my sister thought it was some sort of cleaner … Anyway I love your channel because it has so much good quality content and you inspire me to do more
