It is indeed a 'tiring' part of Lenten season. Plus with the Corona Virus lock down, it's very tempting for me to want to escape by doing things which I promised myself to only do on Lenten Sundays. Yet I'm glad that this is also the time for my family and I to pray harder, for us to learn from one another in handling our struggles in work and family life - I thank God for always being present to remind us. With this sharing from you too Fr, I'm being reminded of the vision of life when I was younger. What is my best in life? Was it just 'begging' like the man in the Gospel or to take action on God's plan for me. What stirs in my heart? Where do we go with it? Lord God, what do You want me to do? (St Francis of Assisi)

The temptation of despair creeps in, to me. I am battling that. And we shouldn't forget regretfulness, which leads to the despair. As you said, Father, tough.

Father, I am originally from PA, I m on my Journey into the Catholic Church. You have been one of my guides this Lenten Season. I would like to know what location this was filmed out. Your voice, the wall of candles was a blessing of peace for this season of uncertainty in the world. When this world crisis is over, I would love to travel to this location and soak in God's Presence. I am still close enough to PA for a visit! God Bless us all. May we seek your face and repent from our sins and those of our nations and seek your face. So that you might forgive us and heal our lands. II Chronicles 7:14

Father this was absolutely beautiful I was listening to your word it soothed my baby and she wants fast asleep.... I've started off with my Lent I was fasting for about 2 weeks ... my children came home with a sickness i also came down with the Sickness I had to stop my fasting process is it possible to still pick up where I left off until Easter comes
@spacelinx4 жыл бұрын
Alex escoto : Yes. Sometimes life happens where you have to break fast in order to take care of yourself or family. It’s the spiritual motives and personal reflections while you’re fasting that are just as important as the act of sacrifice fasting requires. God bless.

Lenten journey compromised? With every church closed within my state and all surrounding states, no masses or sacraments nor rites etc. I say my lenten journey as been "redirected". I proclaim God's will in all things. Let us pray that we may, like Noah's Ark, receive from the Holy Spirit, His pitch, in and out, that will strengthen us to endure this storm.

Why do people give up something for Lent?
@comiskey444 жыл бұрын
We decrease so that the Lord may increase in us. I would eat out of a bag of chips and be done with the bag in 3 days. For Lent, I decided to count 10 chips of the bag and only eat those 10 with my dinner. The bag lasted a lot longer. It's been tempting to grab that "11th chip". I don't need to fill myself on chips, I need to fill myself with the love of the Lord.

So we can’t cheat on Sunday?
@comiskey444 жыл бұрын
we celebrate the resurrection every Sunday, so it's not a day of fasting. That doesn't mean make it "Sunday Funday" and booze it up.

How about when we didn't expect certain humans would intently want to destroy a life or lives? More specific, when I feel the fatigue of fighting for a very long time the abusive stance some humans have taken over MY DESTINY, HENCE MY WILL. Yet, it seems I have a problem because I'm identifying abusers not by what I feel but by the way they have acted against me. It's not the same thing to suffer from a condition that, although painful, feels like it was naturally "provoke" than to suffer from a condition definitely provoked at the onset of human intent to hurt, injure, and destroy. Such fatigue, enduring the unthinkable - humans committing inhumane acts, is definitely a situation that I think no father, priest, religious professional could possibly have an answer for. There is no book on: how to withstand. To be fair, the fatigues some of us humans feel under injustices seemed to have more space in criticism and analysis instead of having a space in: how to finally become more just, peaceful, and loving a more humane community. I think, the solution, why do we need to experience fatigue when God taught the love Jesus had for us - thus, the love we should show if we were made to HIS image? is still missing. Jesus Christ is known as the Redeemer so we don't need to sacrifice anymore we need to love more, have more compassion, have more tolerance and patience, and as long as we don't get hurt or killed respect each others differences. That's lent withstand that which we don't like or are uncomfortable with; lent, I humbly believe, is not to withstand abuses, injustices, or inhumane acts.

Sister, the entirety of the christian story is one of withstanding, the greatest of sufferings, of shame, of tragedy. Our Mater stumbled to his throne with a broken body, and overcame death itself. The need for infinite grace that poured from the victim of ultimate value lead to actions that changed the destiny of man forever. These actions which were truly unthinkable, the betrayals, the isolation of our Lord when his time was at hand was met with full knowledge. We cannot explain why people choose to hurt us, why they decide to ruin our exterior life, and many times there are no actions we can take without some form of help. But the teaching gospel of Matthew reveals to us the sermon on the mount. The rules which we must live our life by, which includes forgiveness, the same forgiveness mentioned within the Lord's Prayer, forgive those who trespass against us. We must forgive, even those who do us wrong, the most terrible inhumane things. That doesn't mean we have to accept them, but we must forgive. God is the arbitrator of Justice, and of righteous Vengeance. We must continue to sacrifice things, for that is the meaning of Love. That is the Love Christ showed for us in his Passion. When we love someone we sacrifice our wants and needs for that of another, whether it be our time, our possessions, or even our lives. To sacrifice is to know the true meaning of love. And to show our love of Christ, and of his heavenly father, we must follow Matthew 16:24, we must follow Christ with our Crosses and bear their weight. We have been called to the seat of our Master, we can go as we are, or through the grace of The Most High we can truly all become saints. But we must show our humbleness, through sacrifice for he who sacrificed for us, to show him a small fragment of the Love he has for us. So therefore lent is about both withstanding injustice and show others compassion, but in order to love someone you cannot allow them to continue down a path that will lead to hurt, which is often what modern day compassion and tolerance means. To be tolerant of the intolerant (actions not people), something which the Lay have struggled with, that is separating the sin from the sinner. Make no mistake, we cannot tolerate sin; after all Christ was terse with the merchants in the temple, for they were doing wrong, he said to the Adulterer 'Go and Sin no more' not 'go and I will tolerate your sins'. For every time we sin we take the lash to that perfect body of Christ, which is why we must receive the sacrament of reconciliation .

What do you want above all? What do you wish for me to pray to our Lord for on your behalf? If I can not perform a work of mercy, or speak a word of mercy, there is still the third degree of mercy, prayer. Speak what you are comfortable to say, God knows the rest, sister.

All men are weak.A pope is only as strong as the belief and rhetoric he pushes. What we should do is work and pray for him. Dont forget that what we see as weak might be what Christ sees as strong. If he makes mistakes and fails,that doesnt mean we pull the plug on men like him. God bless.
