Do I love enough to listen? Do I love enough to speak?
In loving the people around us well, one thing we have to contend with is loving them well in our words. We avoid all unnecessary negatives, love enough to listen, and love enough to speak.
If you would like to support Ascension Presents, send us a Super Chat / Super Sticker in the chatbox or send us a financial gift ( tinyurl.com/2m... ). Your support helps us provide you with the Catholic faith formation media you know and love. Thank you!
If you would also like to make a donation to the Newman Catholic Campus Ministries at the University of Minnesota Duluth, you can donate here: bulldogcatholi...
Finally, we also ask you to continue supporting your local parishes. Thank you and God bless you!

It’s wonderful to assume that the other has the emotional maturity to handle love. We also have to be prepared to shake dust from our sandals and cut someone off if they are truly ignorant in a toxic manner.

God please continue to give me strength because I’m losing hope. This prayer is for God. I know as a christian it’s important to trust you Father no matter what we are going through. You are my only strength in this world. Like many other single parents things are tough on me. Both of my sons are special needs. I’m constantly struggling to provide for them and now that I’m home schooling them my hours to work are limited. I’m overwhelmed. Father God hear my prayers. My faith in you is strong! Even as I constantly struggle to pay my rent. And I constantly struggle to provide groceries for my children. I get mocked by others because I cry out to you Lord! But I trust you. I’m keeping faith. Walking with faith is the most important thing us christian’s must do. That’s why love compassion and prayers are all we truly need. Please keep me and my boys in your prayers. Prayers are all I need.

Prayers for the LORD to keep you strong in faith and in His steadfast love for you. You're doing better than it feels like you are... He sees you. He's your refuge and don't let anyone ridicule you for that. Jesus says rejoice & be glad when people mock you for your faith... it's not under the bushel basket, so your light shines. He sees you. Prayers for your relief in Jesus's name. Amen.

🙏❤️ Sacrificial Love Stonewalling = indifference Saints we’re once sinners.😇
@NicciEisenhauer
@NicciEisenhauer Жыл бұрын
Perhaps we perceive it as indifference, but maybe the person doesn't have the skills or was never taught effective communication. They may be afraid of our reactions. To take your position one step further, I've seen stonewalling used as a weapon. A punishment. I've been the victim of it, thankfully not in my home. But it DID release me from having unproductive and harmful conversations. In those situations, if positive conversations weren't possible, I have come to see the stonewalling as a gift. Again, not in my home. You're very insightful... "indifference" -- the person doesn't care how it affects us. Opposite of love. Sad, because maybe the consequences are steeper for them. Distance from us, our love, and maybe God, too. How can God work through a "non-relationship"? Blessings to you... and love! And prayers. Thank you for being here & your comment that made me reflect!❤

I am new to the Catholic Faith...officially. Thank you for being you and the way you present your homilies. I thank you for your enthusiasm. One thing i love about the Catholic Church. Is because the way the Bible and the Church presents the content of the Bible and the story of Jesus Christ. NOT YELLING AND CONDEMNING the people. The way the Church teaches with civility and explanations. Thank You For Your Presentations.🎉

Thanks so much for streaming this. I am currently still living with my parents who are anti Catholic (and they don't know that I will convert to catholicism once I move out). So I'm still going to my Protestant church in the meantime. Today they spoke about the Arc, the bread of the presence as well as the the bread from heaven. So the pastor spoke of how it's only a symbol and how Roman Catholics believe in the real presence. Everybody laughed (but me) . On a side note they are allowing a divorced man (who was the abuser in the marriage) get remarried. The whole congregation cheered. I almost can't take it anymore. Too weeks in a row the pastor misrepresented Catholics. Last week spoke of them in same breath as Hindus and Buddhists. On top of that they mocked the church fathers on their views on the arc

🕊 ..so, my question is ...what happens when you are not met with the same approach. As in, try to answer the question with lo♡e, but you are met with hate, scoffing and pure anger. Do we walk away then? Or, do we need to keep being in their presence till love eventually takes hold? Even though each time you try their response seems to be more hostile.

If anyone in the church does not accept you they are sinning by not encouraging and welcoming you. You care being called home in my opinion. Listen to the call and not imperfect Catholics. Most likely no one would say a word. This is how Dr Scott Hahn began to be converters and he was a Protestant Pastor with a family. His books are excellent. You might want to go to the church rectory and look into the RCIA program or just talk to a Priest at some point. If you know a Catholic feel free to ask to accompany them at mass, I would be so honored if someone asked me. In fact your making me think of my failings in inviting non-Catholics to mass with me as much as Jesus would want me to. You are in my prayers.. Please don't give up.

I can relate to your story Father. When I was 6 years old we were driving back from vacation. We stopped to fill up the car and to use the restroom. There was a ring I wanted displayed on the counter. My dad gave me a dime so I could buy the ring but when I got to the counter the clerk was somewhere else, perhaps in the back. I saw my chance and pocketed the ring. About 20 miles down the road my dad noticed me in the back seat fidgeting with the ring and the dime. He pulled over, turned around and we drove the 20 miles back to that gas station so I could admit to stealing the ring and apologize for my actions. I also had to return the ring and give give the dime to the clerk. I have often wondered how many parents would do that these days.

Jesus is the Holy One, the King of the Universe, the God of Great Glory. God has highly exalted Him, and given Him a Name which is above every name (Philippians 2:9,) that at the Name of JESUS every knee should bow (Philippians 2:10) and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is LORD to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:11.) For Jesus is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature (Colossians 1:15), For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: (Colossians 1:16) And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. (Colossians 1:17) And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. (Colossians 1:18) For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell; (Colossians 1:19) And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven. (Colossians 1:20) Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. (Colossians 2:8) For in him dwells all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. (Colossians 2:9) And you are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: (Colossians 2:10) And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shall you say to the children of Israel, I AM has sent me to you. (Exodus 3:14) Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I AM. (John 8:58.) Jesus and His Father are One. (John 10:30.) For the Father is in the Son, and the Son is in the Father. (John 10:38.) He that has seen Jesus has seen the Father (John 14:9.) The words Christ spoke, He spoke not of Himself, but the Father within Him was doing the works. (John 14:10.) Again, I say, the Father is in the Son, and the Son is within the Father. (John 14:11.) And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. (1 Timothy 3:16) He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. (John 1:10.) The Father judges no man, but has committed all judgement to the Son. (John 5:22.) Why? So that all men everywhere would honor the Son with the exact same honor they give to the Father. (John 5:23.) For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6.) Jesus is the infinite omnipotent God of Almighty power and glory, the Holy One, the King of kings, Lord of lords, and God of gods. He is the Alpha and the Omega. Jesus is the beginning and the end. Jesus is the first and the last. Jesus is the King of the Universe, the God of Infinite glory and power. His Name is above every name, His power is infinite, His tongue is His weapon of war, for His Word created the heavens and the earth, and by His Word will the omnipotent Lord Jesus Christ make war with the nations of this world. Come soon, Lord Jesus, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, who was and is and is to come.

The church grew by leaps and bounds in the beginning because the disciples and their followers started out by telling people about the glory and love of God and all the ways God loves us using concrete stores from Jesus life. They didn't bring people in by telling them that the are sinners and going to hel l. I think each case is very unglue and has a different approach. They are people who just spend their life complaining abo\ut groups of people who will NEVER come to the church or come back because of these harps that just go on and on. At some point its time to just shut up and use a different approach or write a book of solutions. Anybody can complain and fill volumes doing it. Trey are a banging gong to use a phrase. one for example are not going to bring gay people to salvation by telling them that they are insane and perverts. There are Catholic preaches who do this. They lead a small group that tells them they are wonderful and they believe it. A lot of common sense is being ignored also and Cathoics are being brainwashed by these people.

If you can not think of 10 things that you love about your partner and be humble enough to tell him / her you are on a bad road. ALSO, of the ten none of them can include physical characteristics like 'your hot'. In addition, stuff like... on a daily basis if you don't do any little things for each other like if you get up for a snack and bring something she/ he likes back to them and you say thanks you regularly and tell them she is pretty or he is handsome.... all for example.

I could really use advice. I watched this video and I felt really compelled to talk to my sister. She left the church one and a half years ago when she decided to marry her fiance who is Baptist, I believe. When she called tell she said that she doesn't believe that if you're not Catholic, you won't go to heaven. And I agree. I have a mother-in-law who is Methodist and she's probably the holiest person I know. But at the time what I wanted to say was it's different with Protestants as my mother-in-law. She doesn't know any better. She j doesn't know w the Catholic church. But my sister does. Any advice on how I should say that or if I should say that?

Pray for her as she is on her spiritual journey. We do not know God’s timing. When we think our way is the only way people can view that as being self righteous and judgmental. Let your faith shine through as love. Just my opinion.

“So if you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go; first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.” (Matthew 5: 23-24) “'Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?' Jesus said to him, 'I do not say to you seven times, but seventy times seven.'” (Matthew 18: 21-22) Are you listening to yourself? “For perfect love presupposes that you love all people equally.” ~St. Maximus the Confessor God bless, Fr. Mike. Excellent homily! Peace✝😀☦❤

Fr Mike, have you listened to Fr Mark Beard’s homilies on KZbin? He passed away recently in a car accident but his last 45 homilies are online. His messages really packed a punch. Yours do too! We need more priests like you & Fr. Beard. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Such a POWERFUL message. How much sin do we allow by not caring enough, by not loving enough? We are as responsible for the state of the world right now as non-believers. Even more actually! Because we know what God wants us to do but don't share it with others. We can't fail on our mission as prophets. ❤

Thanks. Pray for my family -fallen away Catholics. When we are together, the topic of Religion is forbidden to speak about. I feel like all of my conversations are censored. Jesus I trust in You.

It is extremely difficult for me to be real with another. Almost always, I avoid this healthy intimacy of putting myself out there for another. Instead of active listening, I turn to quick and easy judgments. Seems to make things easier, and really, most people aren’t ready for this intimacy. As a priest, people probably expect or hope for this in you. My Dad would say things to a priest, he wouldn’t say to my Mom.

11:18 I was raised in a very strict Catholic household and spent 12 years in Catholic schools taught by mainly nuns and a few priests. I spent my freshman year of high school in a Catholic seminary because I wanted to be a priest. I stayed that year but changed my mind and attended my remaining high school years in my local Catholic high school. At 22 I married a young lady who was a Baptist and for the first time heard a sermon on salvation through Jesus Christ. We were married and I attended a private Christian university in South Carolina. I never went back to the Catholic Church until my older brother passed away. For a reason I don’t totally understand I decided to receive communion during the Mass. The priest who presided over the Mass followed me back to my pew in the second row and wanted me to give the communion host back to him. I have never been as embarrassed and humiliated in all of my life. Prior to that experience I had seriously considered returning to the Catholic Church but that changed my mind until I began listening to Father Mike’s podcast. If there was a priest like him in my area I really believe I would go back to Mass and the Catholic Church. I truly enjoy listening to his Bible in a Year podcast and even forego my usual bible study from a Protestant minister to listen to Father Mike. Thank you Father Mike. You have changed my view of what all priests are really like.

Thank you Father Mike For sharing the story of how your mother disciplined you for taking that toy from the store. I did the same thing to my son when he was about 5 years old. I was ridiculed by friends because it was a piece of bubble gum. That son is 42 years old now and has a wonderful family and life. I was a young mom at that time. I'm grandma today. Thank you for your prayers.🙏
