Hey Parker! I got a demo from you last ruckus and chill and I'm going again this year and bringing my vehicle. I am running 2 Fi HC 18's on a JP63 in a 2011 Ford Escape, in the middle of building the flat wall, I just finished the enclosure 17.5cu ft, 236 sq in port area, tuned to 27.5hz and 15 m/s port velocity - I hope to see how my two 18's on 6k do against your 2 Sundowns on 16k, you better be at ruckus and chill this November!!

No mention of whether the speaker handles well with too much or not enough power. In my experience the only time a voice coil heated up at any volume was with a it a little under powered.

I don't understand why people waste an X series by putting the SPL surround on them. They should just buy a U series. The whole point of the X is it's super long throw for lows and by doing that surround it's like building a 1000hp motor and then pulling four of the spark plugs....

Also, the X series has quite a bit less cone area than a U series, basically making it act like a smaller sub in a bigger box, gonna play deeper in the same size box as a sub with more cone area. My Xv2 15 barely has more cone area than a DD 9512.

On the x15, it’s like having the cone of a x18 except it’s stacked, so your basically getting the same thing out of the x15 which is excursion while on the x18 it’s cone area.

Why not build your box all double 3/4 or 1.5 thick for those 18s and maybe triple baffles? 2 18x and 16k will make some pressure. East said when I’m not buying the wood. Lol

Parker whoever built these subs for you did you an injustice... Don't use the SPL surrounds without progressive spiders unless you use the u series frame. 11-in linear spiders and SPL cones are a bad combo. If you ever really want help with anything let me know and I'll drop you my contact info. I'm the best with Sundown audio west of the Mississippi. Period

Lol...the whole debate thing with progressive roll versus linear roll, is just a myth. It all comes down to the compliance of the spider, not the roll profiles. Just like saying that nomex is not as good as a poly cotton blend for material type, and longevity.

I have a question for parker or who ever may have an opinion.....i run a single american bass xr d2 12in sub in my 98 s10 extended cab ....use a jp23v1.5 amp with big 3 and small upgrade on my alt....have been thinking of swapping the single 12 for dual 12s ....or would it be better to buy a beefier more expensive 12 and stay with the single set up ....i have a 2 cubic foot kerf ported box single 12 box at moment ...i know if i go with 2 12 or lets just say another xr12 d2 ....cost of box and sub will be around 400 ....would i be better off to spend that money on a upgrade and stay with the single or go with 2 xrs

Depends if u can get the right box for the 12s. I have a single 12 on half the power my buddy has on his 2 12s and I’m louder by .3 db. Both are trunk builds
