When I had my 1st car and got into car system's I was 17 yrs old and I worked at superfresh and only made $75 a week and I think $50 of it went towards my car insurance lol. I bought my 1st set of 12" subwoofers from k-mart and I can't even remember what they were called but they were purple & black and were only $25 each and then I bought a $50 box and a radio shack Optimus 200 watt amp & amp kit for kit $125. So for $250 I ended up with a surprisingly pretty decent sounding system

I bought three Walmart pioneer 12’s used for $70 total. Built a nice bandpass box for the bed of my truck, ported through back window, played low and loud with 400 watts to each sub and nobody believed me they were cheap subs until they saw them. I’ve moved on to a nicer build but a cheap setup can jam when done right. Thanks for the video!

Then do your subwoofers. Even if you go super cheap on maim upgrades the quality is so significantly better that you might decide not to go cheap on the subwoofer and amp combo. 🤣 I wish I videoed my jeep Walmart stereo back in the day! I see a comment involving radio shack, I actually bought a pair of 12's from there back in the late 90's-early 2000's (they may have been home stereo speakers, I can't remember), then made a cover "box" (piece of plywood cut to fit with carpeting glued on) for my girls firebird, and used an amp I got for free with another sub purchase for this because it's all I had to get her some bass without buying anything other than a wiring kit and the subs and the firebird did not have space for an actual box. I believe those subs were like 150-200 watt max, and I can't even remember what the amp was rated at, but it sounded awesome for what it was. Anyone thats owned a camaro or firebird knows the trunk was basically a platform with a little cavern that drops down. That space was what you had to lay subs over. No actual box was needed, just a cover lid with subs. The alternative would be a very expensive fiberglass or custom built enclosure for that space. So for less than $160, she ran those things for close to 10yrs with a single din CD deck that had pre-amp outputs. True budget build (especially since I provided the amp). The lid that held the subs would fall into the trunk space from time to time after hitting bumps in the road, so I cut a pair of crutches I had and used them to brace the cover lid against the back seats. Was definately cheesy, but it sounded amazing compared to the way the factory speakers alone did. We were 18 and 20 back then, we didn't care how it looked, we just wanted a little bump for all the great 2000's rap music to compliment the blacklights I put in there, and that's what we had.

Low budget, my RE audio amplifier puts out 2,500 Watts RMS and it cost me 220 dollars new, my skar evl-12 2 ohms subwoofer cost 300 dollars for 2 subwoofers.thats 520$ of insane bass. Yeah granted that my 2 side mounted fiberglass subwoofer box cost me 300 $ for materials alone and I fabricated them myself. Plus my head unit is 200 dollars. 0 gauge cable 50 bucks. re audio 4 channel amp 1200 Watts RMS $120 dollar 50 dollar epicenter and 80 dollars for Dynamat so nothing rattles. And still using stock door speakers. Damn never mind this s*** is expensive. And all this is without labor price, which I did myself.

Hello Parker. Just a suggestion, the auto parts store should sell some aluminum replacement end for that door latch cable and it is easy to fix.

My first system was used 2 12 inch sony xplode subs with the same amp as you're using in a sealed box in a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix

My first (and really only) build was 2 “12 Power Acoustik Gothic subs in a box powered by a Power Acoustik 2500w amp. It slapped fairly decently for what it was

I bought two cheap amps one died same day. The other worked for a bit and started cutting in and out randomly. The third is from Skar audio and has worked perfectly for the last few years. It's the same wires so I know that was not an issue.

Did you have the same amp he has?

Great work. Also thanks you for sharing the song at the end. I’ve been trying to figure that out for like a year lol

If we had gone further into "budget" car audio instead of "budget" mountain biking, we would have done just this. Excited to see how it goes!👍

FYI you can get an ford upfitter switch kit for that truck that is mostly plug and play and you have factory switches and relays to run lights and accessories on factory relays and wiring.

Should be able to strap the amps together and then build you a box for the bed and port it into cab . That way you can keep all of your back seat storage . I have a caravan that has a pioneer head unit,2 Walmart dual amps ,5 1/4 in 3 way dash speakers, pillar mounted tweeters,6 x 9 3 way front door speakers, 6 x 9 rear 4 way rear panel speakers,2 12 inch subs in ported box, and a ceiling mounted sound bar facing forward . With the built in amps working and complimenting the dual amps . With all speakers added together it has 30 speakers total. I have around 500 dollars total in it and a really good sounding SQ system that bumps . It has excellent stereo imaging. Some speakers were bought new ,others were scrounged from scrap yard . So yes , you can build really high quality sound systems on the cheap with Walmart equipment. Dash and pillar speakers run on head unit front amp, door speakers run on 1/2 of dual 4 channel amps ,rear side speakers run on other half of dual 4 channel amp,2 subs run on second dual amp bridged mono, and rear sound bar runs on head unit rear amp.

Hehe. My son had a system in his Camaro that we legit measured at 137.2 on the dash with the drivers window open with subs and an amp from Walmart. My wife's system in her Silverado is in the 130's with 2 JL 10w1v3-2's and one of those Jensen monoblocks from Walmart. When Walmart had decent fuse holders, it was better to buy that and a set of 4 guage jumper cables rather than an amp install kit for power. I have 12 booster cable clamps in my toolbox from doing that - lol.

The amp is decent, I'm running 2 12" Renegades on it and it's been great so far

In my previous car I had 2 subwoofers from Walmart, Sony Xplod's. After I installed it and tuned it properly in a sealed custom made enclosures the highest decibel reading I got was nearly 123 dB.
