Well Done. Excellent description of what you did and how you did it. Looking forward to posting a video of my trailer inspired by yours. Thanks !

This is great thanks. Where do you keep rudder and dagger board?

Trunk of their car since they are so small

Thanks for sharing this idea. Since I will be starting with a bare boat trailer, I was wondering if the sail tubes (using equal size 8" tubes) could serve as bunks as well? If I wrapped them in carpet, foam, etc . . . do you think that this set-up would work for a sunfish? Again, thanks for the idea!!

My first reaction was no. But after I thought more about it, I don't see why not. The tubes are definitely strong enough. They may flex a tiny bit if you really ratchet down hard on them. It will also provide for a large area for the boat to sit on, thereby helping to minimize the stress on the hull. Sounds pretty good. If you build it, post a video link here for all to see!

Here in mid-2022 a 14ft length of that green sewer pipe is $200, not including tax and shipping.

Awesome setup! What trailer are you using?

Thank you! The trailer is a 1984 Highlander.

Can you use 6 or 7inch tubes? I don't think i have enough clearance under the boat to use 8 inches
@mobilebrian3 ай бұрын
I don't know if they make a 7 inch. They do make a 6 inch but that won't work. The problem is the gooseneck. It's about 6.25 inches long. Look for taller bunk risers to fit the 8 inch pipe. I found mine on eBay.

This is awesome! Where did you find threaded u bolts wide enough to go around the 8" pvc pipe?
@mobilebrian7 жыл бұрын
The u bolts are ¼ inch threaded rod. They come straight. I bent them over the tubes to get that shape.

Great video. Where did you find the 14 foot green sewer tubes? I can't find anything more than 10 feet
@mobilebrian3 жыл бұрын
Plumbing supply house. I think 14 feet is a pretty standard size. It's also known as 3034 pipe or SDR 35. Good luck!

Where did you get the trailer?

I bought the trailer from a person on Craigslist. I added the sail and mast tubes.

Great work on the setup! I'm probably responsible for 30 of your views by now, because I frequently review your video, price the pipes, and then lose my focus by something more pressing! Anyway, what're your thoughts on a 10" x 14' pipe to hold mast and spars?
@mobilebrian6 жыл бұрын
Everything will definitely fit in a 10 inch. Actually, everything will fit in the 8 inch. But I would be concerned about 2 things. One is the mast is only about 10 feet long. So if it gets pushed deep into the tube you'll have to find a way to fish it out of there. That's not to big a deal. The bigger concern is damage to the sails. The mast is relatively heavy. As you drive, it'll slide around and rub on the sails. I'd say there's a good chance you might get some small holes or tears from the shaking around in there. It would probably be okay for short distances. If you make one, post it so we all can see! Good luck.
