I was there decades ago during my school yrs. I came from Java to hike Mt. Rinjani. I went to Senggigi beach and around but don't dare to explore a bit further because that time it seems so remote and lack of access. But I knew it's beautiful like Bali. You got beaches, volcanoes, waterfall. Bali and Lombok still like dream to me, still no crowd at that time 90's. I even named my eldest daughter after mount RINJANI. Maybe you should check it out

If Lombok better or maybe another options for Travelling other than Bali, it means breaking common perceptions because many people won't come to Lombok because of the Religions.. Hopefully more and more people will come to Lombok so Indonesian Tourism don't stuck in Bali Hope Foreigners will spread to other Island other than Bali... Like Lombok, Labuan Bajo, Manado, etc

Indonesia is very beautiful and even has everything like beautiful beaches, volcanoes and snowy mountains, it's in Papua, if you don't know. I don't know why there is even a comparison with Bali. Lombok has no culture, no historic place of interests, the beach is mostly quiet but not nice to travel out of the way to visit. I have been there once and no intention to return. While Gili islands have better beaches and clearer sea but again, no culture and even local villages. Bali is so many things in one place, i could revisit forever as there is always something new and so many things I have not explored. Already 50 times and counting my next trip!

No culture? Sure lol and nothing historical? Rinjani ain’t historical enough for you? And if the beaches are out of the way, that’s perhaps how it should be to keep things less touristy. Maybe the masses should head to Bali and stay away from Lombok to keep it raw and gorgeous just the way it is, absolutely beautiful, not overrun by tourists, no pollution and not having to sit in traffic and breathing fumes 🤩🥰
