FYI the uniforms they wear that you saw, are the uniforms of the Indonesian army /soldier and each one represents their unit. The marchingband also Indonesian soldier , that's why there are those who wear shark head hats from the navy, bird head hats from the air force, tiger head hats from the army

You guys decided to come here in the correct month. August is a very festive month for Indonesian. Everyone are so busy but very excited in specifically this month, since we know that we are going to have many games and we will massively gather in every places all over the country and specifically in the Palace to celebrate our independence. Fun Fact this year is the last year that the Presidential Palace in Jakarta will hold the ceremony, next year we will do it in the new capital in Borneo so this years celebration is supposedly the goodbye gesture to our old and current Capital Jakarta...

Wow....that looked like so much fun being there in person as for me I could only watch it on tv. But did you know that when the helicopters did that ring of rose, they were actually doing a synchronized dance to a song being played (the title of which is gemu famire)? Glad you enjoyed and got to witness our Independence Day celebration, even took part in one of the unique games. This kind of ceremony might be the last one held in Jakarta, next year and the following years it will most probably be carried out in IKN the new capital in East Kalimantan.
