Definetely not the heaviest thing when it comes to studio recordings, I'm pretty sure this is truly mesmerizing, nightmare-ish and much more bolded on a live setting
@JacobPadlock3 жыл бұрын
I didn't believe the hype until I actually got to see them live. It was the loudest show I've ever been to. I couldn't even believe it was actually happening. I saw them in an old dine-in movie theater built in the late 20s and the sound vibrated my metal bowl of popcorn off the table lol. It's truly an experience. Don't pass it up if they're ever playing near you. You'll never forget it. Bring earplugs.
@freakingjames18203 жыл бұрын
@Damien Voorhis Harding different kind of heaviness honestly. I'd say Cannibal Corpse is more intense and aggressive, Sunn O on the other uses low tuned vibration that sets the tone for a pretty dense atmosphere that is heavy on the ears
@gatlinman81922 жыл бұрын
I have trouble calling it the heaviest. Perhaps the trippiest heaviest. I do believe though, that there is something there, in the way that this group is able to present music. Projection, is an excellent word to describe. Their ability to project, that’s where it is. #solid

I googled heaviest song ever to find this, yeah. I respect and love Sun O))) but this is definitley not the heaviest song ever, but it is pretty heavy. If you don't get it, its doom metal its not fro everyone. It's very different but I respect it and I like it, but once again it's not the heaviest because it is a doom metal song
@Weeping_Somnambulist3 жыл бұрын
This is drone. I mean, its roots are in doom obviously, but it's drone. Either way, I disagree that the heaviest song can't be a doom metal song. Doom metal, and down tempo metal in general can be absolutely crushing. Heaviness has nothing to do with speed or technical prowess. Heaviness in the wall-of-sound, earth-shattering sense is something completely different and dare I say, far heavier than the most brutal tech-deth bands on the planet. Go listen to "Burning the Altar" by YOB and tell me that shit isn't some of the heaviest shit you have ever heard.
@crashdummy403 жыл бұрын
Nothing heavy about it. He forgot to finish stringing his guitar and said record this. they did. Then they said let's try to sell this to stupid ppl that don't know what heavy is. They did that, and the stupid ppl bought it..

Looking up "heaviest song ever" and expecting to find it is incredibly stupid obviously but as a massive sunn O))) fan I have to wonder what the fuck music journalists are thinking. This album is incredible because it shows what sunn are capable of without relying on volume, feedback and distortion nearly as much. It is a heavy album, but one of the least heavy projects the band has conceived when compared to each other and especially compared to the live bootlegs on their second bandcamp. Every song has a full jazz-like arrangement and many guest performances. This one was a lot quieter, more traditionally drone than metal and beautiful for that reason. If you want extreme low end, the quality that got me into the band, check out any of their other studio albums. Seriously any of them. I love this one, but it is not their heaviest and I think that was very clearly intentional. Heaviness is subjective, I find lots of jazz heavy including this album, but out of all their material, showing people this and describing it that way will definitely turn off tons of potential fans.

I've finally worked it out. I was looking for lyrics for this for years but those found on the web are in English which this language is obviously not. So I looked at who provided guest vocals on the album and it's the Hungarian guy from Mayhem. I popped the English lyrics in Google translate and voilà - a close approximation of the words actually said in the song. A fajtám eredete A válasz kérdéstelen lényemre Marduk összeomlásának témáiban Amikor az aszteroidák felrobbannak Az egész nap körül Ahogy a felhők felgyulladtak És a tűzgolyók barangoltak És a kék üresen szárad A következő generáció bölcsője Feltámadt a földek felett Leszálló, mint egy álomtalan kastély Egy új reményért A sziklákból emelkedő városok A föld megadja irgalmát De nincs több arany az árulóknak Ki birtokolja az ősi romokat Valótlansági varázslataikkal Elfogják a világot és a földet, lélegezve A végtelen olajtengereken Soha véget nem érő lángtornyok Oh Cydonia vidáman ábrándozik az álomtalanokról Hideg van odakint az emlékek mezején? Nézz rám
