Absolutely love Münster as a city. Great market, lovely shopping district, not too big, not too small, and wonderful traditional restaurants!! What more could one ask for?!❤

Münster is a good place to live and especially to study. The city has approximately 60.000 students which keeps it young. The city center has nice places with many restored buildings, a small lake, and a kind of bike expressway on the old defense wall around the city center surrounded by trees.

actually the long queue in front of the bratkartoffel stand you mentioned at 2:10 is in fact the best thing to eat, these are so good!!! Most of the people standing in line are students that come straight out of the library from across the street..

Beautiful city and wonderful, courteous German people. I can't wait to visit this city again. I explored nearly every corner of this historic city. The Stadtzentrum is somewhat big, but it's a fun walk. I used to spend time around Aasee (some lake), which was one of my favorite spots. The first Turkish Döner I ever had was in Münster, and a few months ago, I tried Döner Haus in Manhattan, which brought back so many memories. That OktoberFest is hella fun!!! My bicycle was a bit rundown, but I had fun riding it anywhere in the city lol. Man, one must visit Germany an economic powerhouse of Europe, I might add. Deutschland, ich werde dich bald besuchen! Sprehe ich Deutsch aber nicht sehr gut lol. Much love from New York!

I've been living in Münster for half a decade now and it's so funny to me when you said "among the cute houses we found a church" because yeah you'll find a lot of those like just turn left right now and you'll see the next one :'D

I've lived in Münster since birth (18 years) and it's so fun to view these places that I'm so used to through a different perspective :D Never knew our city is more dutch than other german citys?
@KingSteven2611 ай бұрын
Well we live close to the dutch/german border, got ALOT of bicycles and relaxed people here and often a specific smell in the air. So sometimes its easy to think you were in a dutch town, even so most bike lanes in the netherlands are much better than here in Münster...

The story of the Anabaptist cult in Munster is very interesting. Take a look at the podcast by Dan Carlin. The cages of the executed are still hanging from the church spire. Fantastic. And try the Alt Bier bowle at the Blau Haus. It’s an amazing fruit dark beer.Delicious.

Since you are from Latvia it might be interesting for you that Münster has, or at least used to have, a pretty large Latvian community. There even was a Latvian boarding school, where my father spent some time in his youth. If it still exists today I don't know, but I doubt it. Anyway, I was born and raised not far away from Münster and so I know the place quite well. And to me it is one of the most beautiful cities in all of Germany. Calling it the most Dutch city in Germany is very fitting indeed.

A lot of german cities have these metal city models. They are meant for the blind. They are accurate and have braille inscriptions on them and you can experience the city „with your fingers“

9:45 That ist actually a model of what the city would have looked like, if the city planners of the 60s and 70s could have implemented their plans. Münster would have been covered with car-friendly infrastructure, luckily these plans were never implemented. The City implemented from the late 80s onwards more infrastructure for pedestrians and cyclists, to keep and make Münster more liveable.

Fun fact: The "crispy on the outside" church has cages hanging from the top in which the corpses of the so-called "Wiedertäufer", a religious group, were put on display to teach people not to mess with the Catholic church.

Hello! I come from the Münsterland and live in a tiny village near Münster! Everyone wants to go to Bavaria and see this ridiculous Neuschwanstein. How boring. Come to Münster and the Münsterland! They speak English everywhere here! If you have time, visit the magnificent cathedral, the natural history and historical open-air museum, Lake Aa and especially the zoo! Forget all those overcrowded, overrated tourist traps like Berlin, Hamburg, Bavaria... North Rhine-Westphalia in West Germany has much more to offer! 😎👋🇪🇺🇩🇪🇪🇺
@zeestanwar104112 күн бұрын
tbh i agree. I came here as an international student and didnt like it that much in the beginning - but after visiting Bavaria over Christmas, i must say, i have a newfound appreciation for this city. The overall vibe, architecture, and crowd is way better imo. My sister from Passau told me that the old people are not so nice to the foreigners in her city, but during my 3 months in Münster, so many elderly people have passed by smiling at me LOL. She was shocked to hear this!
