Great video mate. I found that the HEMA map app was really useful. Or just any up to date map that gives locations for toilets, fresh water lakes that are always a treat, fuel stops and areas that are closed off. Bonus with the HEMA app is it give you the gps location of where you are on their map so you can roughly figure out where you are.

here's a tip we worked out pretty quickly... from Eurong take the inner rainforest road and not the main beach road, it also goes to a few lakes but you end up at Lake McKenzie. When you leave and go back to the main beach you are going downhill... the weight of your car will give you momentum to get through the soft sand, less strain on it... if you go uphill from the beach to Lake McKenzie then as you drive through the soft sand it is more of a strain... and definitely watch out for the large truck/buses from the resorts...

Great vid TJ, I just got back from the island after 10 nights at cathedral beach camp grounds, A great camp ground, Dingo fence all round so great for families with small children, We even did a shed life session with some cold one's, installing some canopy lights, And yes I did see the taxi, I had to take a double look 🤣, After 10 days on the island we still ran out of time to see things, Valley of the giants is a great run, 6hr round trip from cathedrals, Fuel is $3.20 a litre ATM, So that hit hard Cheers mate, Keep the vids coming our way,

we worked out if you go on the car ferry try not to be the first 3 cars... the ocean salt water splashes up through the barge ramp hinge and hits underneath your 4wd... and the other reason is sometimes after they lower the ramp in the last 100m or so people get excited and start their 4wds up... the barge guy told us a few times each year someone goes dukes of hazard over the ramp into the ocean... as soon as we got off we just pulled over and let everyone race off... otherwise you'll get the road ragers tailgating you... one more thing... the high tide road from the ferry drop off to Eurong... is corrugated mix of road base and dirt... probably not more than 40 on the road otherwise you can tear holes in your tyres.... we saw the guys who raced off from the ferry about 10 mins later.. 8 x 4WDs all changing tyres...

One question is camp fires are they allowed in designated points/fire pits or has this been restricted totally. Fantastic episode others have been lacking more focused on scenery than experience.

Campfires are only allowed in the campfire rings provided at Waddy point. you can use contained stoves that use heat beads in other areas, but no fire pits or open fires. All the info is on the parks website.
