Taking a hyper-obscure almost joke of a baddie and making him a major villain. making him relateable and sympathetic. polishing out his powers and turning him into a respectable threat and addition to a hero's rouge's gallery... this game has done to Mr Negative what Batman The Animated Series did to Mr. Freeze. kudos Insomniac, well done indeed!

He's not much of a joke villain in the main comics. He's just a relative newcomer who's still trying to make his mark. In the comics, Martin Li and Mr. Negative are treated as full-blown split-personalities with neither being initially aware of the other. Martin Li is sympathetic in a different way in that he's a genuine nice guy who just happens to be saddled with Jekyll and Hyde dynamic.

Actually in the comics, though both Martin Li and Mr Negative are not exactly aware of each other, that isn't completely true. They both play games of chess with each other. They are aware that they both exist, however they do not know of each other's circumstances.
