I loved the referece to "This is a warning sign that Sasha is in a bad relationship"

Perhaps this is a unpopular opinion but I *love* how militant the Dark Forest is. It's the Clans' self-destructive ideal of "A Strong Warrior" in a nutshell. Every Dark Forest recruit was told this was the way to get strong, which is in turn the only way to belong... until they are stuck in a situation they know is dangerous but can't leave for fear of weakness, rejection, and/or dying and so have to convince themselves it's good or keep going regardless. It's hypocritical, but the Clans are at their core hypocritical in boasting belonging through might-makes-right. The fact so many cats get ensnared by the Dark Forest is a delicious consequence of it. Not that I can understand what the ghosts' ultimate plan was lol

Is it just me or is this one funnier than usual? “Contrary to popular belief, Yellowfang isn’t they only cat in StarClan-“ I can’t 🤣

How do you calculate the speaking role statistics? Is it automated or do you manually go through each page for it? It's always a fascinating addition to these videos

I find it interesting how Jayfeather didn't try to calm Millie down about her disabled kit by reminding her she's talking to a disabled cat, and doing the healing of said kit (Or maybe he did and I dont remember. Its been a while since i read POT)
@pippastrelleАй бұрын
(it could be that the writers forgot but) I think in their mind, it's the difference between having a long-term disability and being on the edge of dying?

ive always thought that the dark forest would be so much more sensical if they really more played into trying to kill the trainees, we learn they're stuck if they die after all, what better way to convince them they only have the option to fight against starclan then if they're already doomed? Training accidents, taking apprentices off alone to pick them off, its probably too dark for the series, but it just seems like the most sensical way to go about it. Kill the least loyal or the most questionable, keep the most loyal from seeing it so they still have paws on the ground. Dismiss the ones that died if they are seen as just weaklings, or that they died outside of the dark forest but chose to come here anyways. There's potential! Introduce more trainees and then slowly start to pick them off!

Cinderheart's outburst about the "greater destiny" will never make sense to me. Look at Sandstorm; she seems to have no issue being with Firestar of all cats!

I very much agree with your points on Briarlight and Millie's reactions. My sister became disabled at 5 months, so she doesn't know it any other way, but it was very hard for my mother at first - as a parent, you have expectations for how your kids' lives will look, and if those suddenly are changed a lot that's hard for anyone (a lot of people who become disabled later in life call this 'disabled grief', i.e. grieving the life you expected to have without a disability; this is kind of what Briarlight herself is going through at this point). Add to that a new, constant fear of losing that child and it only gets worse. I'm also not surprised it takes this long for Millie to snap - at first, you'd tend to hope for some form of miracle, or you're just too caught up in what is happening to consider the future. Now that Briarlight's condition has stabilized, even with a constant threat hanging over her, Millie has time to think and catastrophize. I do have issues with how Briarlight's story is treated in the books, but completely agree with you that, overall, at this point it is realistic (as a human metaphor of course, not in terms of real cats).

The ebook version has Ivypaw's eye color change from blue to green within one page. Great job!

When it comes to the Dark Forest's manipulations, fans come to two different interpretations. One is, like you discuss, a Faustian bargain: a deal that seems perfect until you realise the dark twist. And, yeah, in that regard the Dark Forest does suck because it doesn't hide its malicious, incompetent intentions well enough. But a second interpretation is that of grooming, which aligns more closely with Tigerstar and Hawkfrost in how they recruit. It's instead about the leveraging of relationships and then the secrecy and bad things the characters had to do. Hawkfrost preys on Ivypool's feelings of being overlooked and by the time she's fighting with claws in the Dark Forest, she's in too deep with the evil cats to get help and get out. If not for Dovewing loving and trusting her enough despite it all.
