My favourites are: any Firmdale Hotel, Corinthia, Intercontinental Park Lane, Fortnum & Mason, Conrad St James & St Ermin’s Hotel.

Fortnum & Mason for a fancy one, Bridgets in Covent Garden for a more regular one. Those are my top 2 picks

Claridge’s is my favorite, because after calling around they offered the best customer service and alternative dietary needs.

I used to enjoy the Harrods afternoon tea on that little balcony. Waiters in long black aprons and cakes to die for. Also, when I first went, it cost £3..10s!

Sometimes they use Tiptree, which is made in Essex

Some places would never serve jam in a jar especially one you can buy in any supermarket! It should be served in a jam pot with a spoon.
@tamaracarter1836Ай бұрын
I’ve never had an afternoon tea with Bonne Maman conserves/ jam. Every single one I have been to has either served Tiptree, a local made jam from that particular region (e.g. Yorkshire, Cotswolds etc), or homemade.

The sad thing is, none of these places offer a English afternoon tea, which would have English foods such as a piece of pork pie or gala pie, and dark fruit cake, besides sandwiches and scones. Instead, they pack it out with continental patisserie or things like macarons, none of which should be eaten at afternoon tea. I wish that just one place would offer English afternoon tea.

Afternoon Tea is the biggest rip off in the industry. No, it's not about the experience when it ends up costing more than a dinner out or as much as your weekly food budget. Stupid.

You really do keep those Scottish tradition alive! 😂

You realise this is JUST for tourists? No Londoner has had this type of afternoon tea since the 1950s at least.

Not true, it’s a regular birthday treat and Mother’s Day in my family. You might not enjoy afternoon tea but lots of us do. In Kings X Thursday having a late lunch, 4 gentlemen came into the restaurant and had afternoon throughly enjoyed it 😊

I live in London and regularly have formal afternoon tea. Your comment is completely wrong.

No, as a Londoner and cake-lover, I've enjoyed many cream teas though some are ridiculously overpriced at venues which attract tourists.

@@oc2phish07I agree with you entirely. I live in West London and I regularly go for afternoon tea with my adult daughter!
