I only started to embrace minimalism this year and I am very excited about what I will become after a few months. I can't say right now which one resonates with me more but I value frugality, sustainability, practicality, and mindfulness/spirituality. Let's see how things go!

Great video!!! I'm inspired by all these kinds of minimalist, simple, meaningful living, perhaps most of all by the ecological versions. But I nodded to some aspect in all of them. I really loved to see the whole compilation, there is so much freedom in this variety!

I think that there is an overlap in my practice of living minimally. I do not want to contribute to the landfill, I want to live lighter in the world, so that I can move easily, I do not spend or want to spend a lot of money on things, I get tired of seeing clutter and because I meditate I like the peacefulness of seeing space between material things. This video is helpful because so many people only think of minimalism in terms of minimalist design and there are as you mentioned, so many reasons to live minimally.

That's great! I think it will be much easier to maintain this type of lifestyle when you have so many strong reasons for it 🙌😊 And glad you liked the video!

I really appreciated this list and see aspects of my motivation in many of archetypes. However, I think I might be a different type, which I would call a sensory minimalist. I am very sensitive to visual, auditory, and tactile clutter, and I appreciate having meaningful sensory experiences in the world. I love to cook, and I don’t have many common gadgets because they contribute negatively to the sensory environment of my home. I would much rather make a loaf of bread by hand than use a bread machine because the machine takes up space and is noisy, while kneading is calming and grounding.

I think I'm a mixture of 2 and 4... I have inherited a lot of things from deceased parents and grandparents, and i find it hard to let go of these things, however i am starting to think of a way to organise and reduce some of these things and incorporate them into my own way of living. It is true that having a clear and tidy home gives you a clear and tidy mind. Although i am quite a practical person, I'm also quite sentimental.
@SunnyKindJourneyАй бұрын
That's great! And it definitely doesn't have to be this one-week process where you "have" to get rid of everything. I think overtime you'll just learn what you need more and what are sentimental items worth keeping, and which aren't that important to you personally. All the best and thanks for watching! 🌿

I started out as a frugal minimalist, primarily out of necessity. I wanted to get our finances to a certain place and this was the best way to start. I'm definitely now a practical minimalist, most of our furniture we've had for years and I'm not decorating for an aesthetic, just for what we like and our interests and that carries over to other life aspects too. I am a former recycling coordinator for the community I used to work for, so I definitely tend to lean into eco minimalism and over the past year have become more aware about certain things to help with that as well. I am somewhat of a digital minimalist as well, I do need to work on that a bit, a goal for 2025. GREAT VIDEO though, I think people get scared off by the word minimalist and this video shows that there are SO many aspects to it.
@amychen2504Ай бұрын
Excellent breakdown. Ideally, I'm all, but I think I lean to minimalism for focus (work/creative writing) and aesthetic (looks better, but then also leads to practical/time because easier cleaning)

I think that's totally possible. Even just from a design standpoint, you can have a maximalist home without clutter, designing it with intention with complimentary designs and textures, not with hoarding. Having only what you love and is useful, still applies to that esthetic.

I am all except two: I’m not focused or nomadic. I’m retired so I do not feel any need to focus on systems or goals. Distraction is not a problem for me. I have no desire to travel at all and I love being at home more than anything. I am most attracted to becoming extreme and spiritual, but the aesthetic and the practical keep me from these extremes. Frugal and eco are natural results of my minimalism.

And I live in a permanent home and I don’t enjoy traveling all too much. 😅 So the nomadic minimalist resonates the least with me. I admire extreme/ultra minimalists. 🥰 I don’t know if it would be for me. Probably not in all areas of my life. I don’t like to limit my art supplies for example.

Hi Seve, that’s a wonderful idea. I also thought about doing it for a while without any long term commitments. I’m actually preparing myself to try it in 2025. And so far I love it! 😍 What came to my mind after watching the video was that there are minimalists like me who are trying to make a smaller living space work for them. It’s not about the aesthetic for me. But about saving money on rent and making our space work for our family of 4. ☺️

I think mostly I'm spiritual and this leads to my subtypes- frugal and eco. My faith believes in being stewards of the planet and eschewing the worship of material markers of wealth. When I get too caught up in all the shiny things in the world, it clouds my spiritual journey. They're all connected for me, I think.

I’m in between all of them: I am a minimalist that approaches their home based on aesthetic AND utility, and because of that principle, it allows me to be frugal with my spending, and because I am frugal, I am not in debt, and I avoid hyper-consumption that can impact the environment in a positive way by not buying a bunch of cheap crap. But instead, buying high quality and luxury items. Identifying with one or the other is not exactly progressive, but regressive. I believe choosing to be a minimalist in its pure essence improves an individual’s life for the better. Ultimately, affecting you in all aspects of your life which will inevitably lead to a deeper spiritual growth. Nomad or homebody. No matter how you choose to live your life.
