2:43 Do you have to commit to memory the sunny subnet table to answer these questions in the Network+ exam. Looking at exam rules it doesn't look like you are allowed to make notes or calculations other than writing materials provided. How does this work when taking the online test?

Hi Sunny! I just watched this video and I have a question for the last part asking “Which of the following would represent the LARGEST possible contiguous block of the remaining address” You took the total USED and subtracted it from the total AVAILABLE leaving only the remaining amount of 16. But that isn’t contiguous is it? I thought the answer would be /25 for the Sales department because they needed 100 hosts and the that subnet allocated 128 hosts leaving 28 contiguous unused. What am I missing? Thank you!!

Hi Sunny great video as always! In the example we are told the network ID range is 172.30.232.0/24. You explained in this video that we use one subnetting table or the other depending on the subnet mask (e.g. /16 subnetting not the same as /24 subnetting). But how is it determined that a /24 mask is used for the network ID range? Why not 172.30.232.0/16 or 172.30.232.0/8? Also I was read in an article that, for subnetting, it is possible to borrow one bit from the network in case you need more subnets than the ones one can make with the given subnet. How is this done? Is there any limitation to this? Thank you in advance.

what about for 10,000 workers? Company ABC has 10000 workstations in their head office and the IT manager would like to assign a subnetwork address for each department. The IT manager wants to create 9 subnets using the 192.168.0.0/18 block and assign the first subnetwork to their servers and the rest for their 10000 workstations. How will we compute the subnetwork requirement? List the subnet address with mask for each subnet.

Dear Sunny, thank you for your videos I have learned a lot of them. It would be nice if you could make an order of how to learn networking specially for beginners. Starting with a basic suite then for each subject a separate suite. thank you very much

Love the chart you have. Could you theoretically extend this chart to include subnets "smaller" than /24 (example- /18)? For a 10.10.0.0/16 network the chart would have max value of 512 instead of 256. Anyways love the videos!

Hey, Jean, Thanks a lot for your nice words and encouragement. I published my videos, not in any order. However, I have organized them by playlists. If you can click my playlists and choose one topic as the major theme. For example, the playlist " 1 OSI Model and related" is the foundation for all networking and cybersecurity. And then move to the second playlist: 2 Topology, cabling and cabling structure". At this point, I have not finished all the videos to cover all topics. Thank you very much for your support and interest.

Hello sunny i don't understand how u solved the question. I mean you have only 254 valid hosts. So u can use /26 which gives you 4 Subnetts each 62 valid hosts but Sales department wants 100 valid hosts??? How can u use /25, /26 , /27, /28??? You have only 254 valid hosts in this 172.30.232.0/24?? Is it like this A)/25 First sales Department gets 126 valid hosts. So i have only 126 halid hosts left how should i devide for 3 departments??
@addanametocontinue4 жыл бұрын
That's the point of using VLSM (variable length subnetting mask). You don't divide the available hosts into equal parts. You assign only what is needed. See below for an example of how I assigned mine out: HR = 57 172.30.232.0/26 Sales = 100 172.30.232.64/25 IT = 12 172.30.232.128/28 Finance = 25 172.30.232.144/27
