I have a SunnySky 2216 1400kV v2 on order to fit in my Skylark S....currently running a generic 2217 1250kV with a 9x6 prop in the Skylark S on 3S and its adequate enough, I think the SunnySky will liven it up for sure. I have a SunnySky 2212 2450kV v2 on 6x4 prop in my SkySurfer and I'm very happy with that combo on 3S.

Sounds like you'll have some fun with that Skylark and the Sunnysky 1400. That spins pretty quick.

Nice comparison, certainly pleased with my sunnysky v3 1250kv on my storch. Ive heard good things about T-Motor, would be great to see how they stack up. I'm thinking of using a T-Motor AS2820 1050kv with 11x5.5 prop on my winter foamboard project - an Edge 540

Thanks for leaving a comment. I know T-Motor has a good reputation out there. The last time I looked at them they seemed very pricey compared to the competition, but after reading your note I looked at their 2216 1250Kv equivalent and the price seems in line with SunnySky, so I may take a look at one of those soon. Thanks for the suggestion.

@@RCVideoReviews thanks, based on my test i will be going from 752wp (purposely over propped and over powered) detrum 3720 to what will be a modest 1342ish wp (can't remember exact number there) for the sunnysky 3520😁👊 on a plane that barely tops 4lbs on its most bloated days lol. i like the wide envelope of power options i have now, it can be a slow intermediate trainer or a wicked wing rippin 6s 3d beast🤣 with light packs ofc. things are about to get interesting 😈🤑

Noob question here. Can you explain what's the long shaft is for? Thing is, the motor is an outrunner. It doesnt make sense (to me) to mount it in reverse to attach propeller to the shaft. In the other video you mentioned about the shaft is for compression collet, but i still cant imagine how it's done.
@RCVideoReviews
@RCVideoReviews 4 жыл бұрын
You can release the grub screw and retaining color on the bottom then press the shaft forward in the can to have it protrude far enough for a compression collet. Also, some planes have a "forward mount". That means the base attaches to the rear of the firewall and the shaft goes through the firewall forward, to which you connect a compression collet.

@@RCVideoReviews Ah, i see. Already thought of it, but too afraid to tinker with the grub screw and criclips as it's the only motor i have right now and it's also my first. You've confirmed it, and that makes everything clear. Thanks a lot man, you're a great help.

Sunnysky lists just about everything for their motors--about halfway down the page. For most of their motors they have multiple Kv options so about halfway down the page you have to select the Kv you want. When you click that, a big chart with specs and prop test data normally shows up: sunnyskyusa.com/products/sunnysky-x2216-brushless-motors-long-shaft-version?variant=31960730271838

Do you actually have a preference for a brand? U have compared a lot of motors. Can u put together a best by size or size range?
@RCVideoReviews
@RCVideoReviews 4 жыл бұрын
Not really John. I prefer to focus on whether products to what they say they'll do. Posting a "this is better than that" statement can get VERY VERY argumentative. Some will insist pitch speed is most important. Some will swear by efficiency. Others by thrust. To this day I constantly get argumentative comments about motor measures and to be honest, it's exhausting. Instead, if a product does what it says it will do, I can plan accordingly.
