I STRONGLY AGREE, WHITE EYES SHOULD NOT PLAY AROUND WITH THE COLORS AND THE GAAN MASK .CUZ WEN I HAD THE GREAT CHANCE TO SPENT TIME THERE I MEANT MED.MAN BOTH SHOW ME TO RESPECT THE LAND AND PRAY EVERY MORNING AND EVEN ING...THEY HAVE ALSO TEACH ME THE WAY OF THE GAAN AND TO RESPECT IT. IF THE GAAN INVITE YOU YOU WILL HAVE A VISION OF THE GAAN.THATS THE ONLY WAY IN.

yea...this has become a problem here in the southwest...our masked dances are being imitated by non-tribal members because of these type of videos being posted on youtube....besides something like this shouldnt be filmed...those dancers just like any masked dancer-Navajo, Pueblo, or Apache, are sacred. They are "dressed" ritually with songs and prayers and should be respected as holy entities.

I am all for traditional dances and ceremonies but are these supposed to be shown like this? It seems very sacred so I just don't understand why it is being shown to everyone like this.....Not trying to offend anyone by this just very curios of what kind of ceremony this is.

apache ceremonies only work for apaches....native people are one with earth....

in most recent years people often get permission to take pictures for themselves but its even more recent for others just to film and post on youtube, it is sacred but thats the problem in our community our culture is deteriorating by not taking our culture seriously. a friend of my husband is a crown dancer, he found videos of the dances he was in and tracked the people down and had the take it down. japanese and white persons have practiced our dances by watching these films its not right.
