@danielreed2920 Hahaha, burn coal in what? End of life coal fired power plants? China has implemented more renewable energy projects than all the rest of the world combined! Meanwhile, the NSW state government has agreed to pay Origin Energy up to $450 million over two years if the Eraring plant runs at a loss instead of closing. The Eraring coal power station in Lake Macquarie will remain open until August 2027. It was previously due to close next year, leading to fears NSW would not have a reliable power supply. China is leading the global renewables market and is on track to reach a record-breaking 230 gigawatts (GW) of wind and solar installations this year. China's estimated installation is more than double the number of U.S. and Europe installations combined. China has pushed up its 2025 wind and solar outlook by 43% or 380 GW.

When there is no wind and no sunlight were in trouble. Plus, Labour is happy to collect the taxes on the coal and gas we sell off shore...much more that we would use...that's going into the environment too. It makes sense to have a mix. Use renewables when you can but have a very proven and reliable power supply with coal, gas and nuclear. And, Merry Christmas.
@multioptioned12 сағат бұрын
That's why you have battery storage! But the elephant in the room no one is discussing is that renewable energy is already at a stage where coal, gas (or nuclear) power plants are no longer viable or profitable. Who is going to build, run, and maintain power plants making a loss? Especially if renewable energy production reaches 80%? Then power providers, as they are now, will have to request renewable energy is not fed into the electricity grid...😮

@@multioptioned you raise a good point although the resources needed for batteries are costly and damaging to the environment. Plus, a hail storm or an electrical fault could easily wipe out a solar panels. Ever heard of batteries? They are what will store the energy required when the wind is low and the sun is not shining. It's not rocket science, and it is also not dangerous technology. @davewise7419 Current coal and gas fired power plants and future nuclear power plants are already not viable or profitable to run unless renewable energy is turned off from feeding into the electricity grid. How long to build 7 nuclear power plants? 38% of total electricity generated?? 🙄🤣 No mention of lowering electricity bills for consumers. No expertise in building or maintaining nuclear reactors.
