Because the giveaways were far more than the pretend hidden deficit... Not to mention everything they then piled on top of that... Small government and scrapping Net Zero would save vastly more than £20 billion , in fact a well managed government with decent policies would make the UK grow at a ballistic rate... We would also see our wealth rise at an astronomical rate instead of putting more money in the pockets of the rich and corrupt!

You seem to forget that the pound plunged to $1.03 to the £ immediately following the budget in the Truss premiership and the Bank of England had to pump money in to stop any further falls. Sunak managed to get the £ back up again to around $1.28 and it is now around $1.25 - not yet a disaster. Had Truss stayed in power, mortgage rates would probably be over 10% today!! Labour pumped lots of public cash into the most useless undeserving job in the public sector Train drivers, rarely running on time, 4 day week with family and friends free rail travel for working a single lever forward and back, a job a monkey could do and probably better and cheaper. at least junior doctors kind of deserve it, however they are the doctor apprentices badly paid for long hours but they definitely make that up massively later in there careers as they progress up the doctor hierarchy. perhaps they could give pensioners free train travel then they could go on long journeys for a heat.
