Kevin Durant said that it’s “unacceptable” that the Phoenix Suns lost to the San Antonio Spurs. Colin Cowherd and Nick Wright discuss whether the Suns, Los Angeles Lakers, or Golden State Warriors have been more disappointing, as well as the lack of success from the Buffalo Bills in the Josh Allen era. Plus, they discuss J.J McCarthy’s draft odds increasing, and why he could end up as the 2nd overall pick.

I think JJ is capable of being a more tool-sy Brock Purdy. But I could also see a reality where he's Drew Lock mixed with Desmond Ridder. Neither of those outcomes are worth the 2nd overall pick, but he's a first round talent when you consider his efficiency and athleticism. He just needs to be on an already solidified offense like Miami or Minnesota in order to distribute.

30 seconds in and it’s already fate Aaron Rogers is MVP
@DeCurtaRican
@DeCurtaRican Ай бұрын
Can Nick count? Aaron Rodgers was the 2020-21 MVP and the 2021-22 MVP. He had one down year - his final with the Packers (2022-23) and didn’t play this past season, his first with the Jets (2023-24). His last dominant year (again, MVP) was two years ago (2021-22) not three, and it was due to his 2023-24 injury. We are in the 2023-24 offseason right now, so only two seasons have been played (2022-23 and 2023-24) since Rodgers’s last MVP. He lies about every QB who is a threat to Mahomes. He does the same with Russ. He said Russ was horrible in 2023-24, and that was a lie. He was more than solid, finishing with top-5 and top-10 performances in meaningful stats, and nearly got the Broncos into the playoffs despite Sean Payton intentionally throwing winnable games early on and a few toward the end (notably the Patriots game). He claims Russ hasn’t been good in 5-6 years, which is categorically false b/c even three seasons ago was 2020-21, when he had a career year and led the Seahawks to a 12-4 record and the NFCw title in a stacked division. The next year (2021-22) he began by leading the league in passing over the first 1/3 of the season before suffering a gruesome hand injury that required immediate surgery. He returned prematurely after Geno went 1-3 in his absence but put up great stats considering that he appeared in 14 games but was healthy for only 9 of them due to that injury. He had a horrific 2022-23 season, but that was due to a perfect storm. Not only was Russ playing injured (unlike what Mahomes would have done, he kept silent about it), his team was badly injured. Lest we forget the biggest cause: Nathaniel Hackett being grossly unqualified to be a HC. So, Russ has had one horrific season and two in-Russ but solid, respectable seasons, and other than that put up 9 seasons of pure excellence - even in 2016, when he also played an entire season INJURED! I can’t respect a guy who uses his platform as a bully pulpit and a channel for misleading narratives and misinformation. Nick Wright is nothing but a biased blowhard with different agendas.

The team has certainly upgraded their weapons... but, let's be real. these expectations are really just about Caleb being a "generational talent." But that's what was said about Bryce Young, Trevor Lawrence, Joe Burrow, Kyler Murray, Cam Newton, Justin Herbert. None of them got 10 wins in the first season. Even if Caleb IS "generational, and wins 10 games, it's still a laughable expectation to have for the team now

It’s funny watching someone who can barely speak talk so down about an athlete like Rogers.

The NBA's problem is not the marketing. Nobody talks about the marketing, except when the product is bad. The NFL is not successful because of the "marketing". This is a false notion created by a media that needs things to talk about and occupations that need to justify their salaries. The NBA's problem is the product. People aren't into it. I try to be, and struggle. A big portion of the good players are foreign, making them unrecognizable. The good players jump teams, seemingly, every 6 months, and the likelihood of catching them on the court when I flip on the TV is about 50/50. And those are just the logistical parts. The quality of the game is a whole other ball of wax which, admittedly, is overblown, but there is a slowness, lack of defense, and over-utilization of iso ball, or "helio" I guess? That makes games drag. I did notice they decided to quit calling all fouls, giving the illusion of defense, and it's kind of piqued my interest a bit. Anyway, "marketing" ain't it. No good product dies as a result of its "marketing".

Djokovic is still the best men’s tennis player. He’s the MJ and LeBron of tennis. Most titles with the best longevity. I get the comp to tennis with the NBA but Novak is still clearly the best player when he’s on. He will win a few more majors then Alcaraz or Sinner will rise to the top. Not a 100% apples to apples take, CC.
