That was easily one of the most to the point, energetic and no non-sense Cisco Videos I have ever watched, Thanks!

This helped me really understand everything that is happening for SME and ILS. I got hired as Tier 2 Network VoIP and having to setup my own lab before getting into the production environment and now I'll be able t oset this up and have an understanding of how it works. thank you

Perfect 👌🏻. Int his SME setup? Does Route pattern and destination required to make calls between the clusters. ??? Or SME will take care call routing??
@SunsetlearningInstitute4 жыл бұрын
Each CUCM needs a SIP Route Pattern that points to a local SIP trunk. The original source of the ILS advertisement will identify itself with a route string ID. All other CUCM servers need a SIP Route Pattern that points to a SIP trunk when trying to send calls to that remote route string ID. -John

Great video. And here is a question from a noob. What if i got two clusters that are from 2 different customers and obvously different networks but they would like to be able to call each other without using pstn, can i still use sme, and how does the routing would work, i assume calls somehow would need to go over WAN. Is that a solvable solution or what are the real world examples

Hi John, ILS can be used by separate clusters - regardless of who owns and operates them. You and the other organization just need to use the same certificate or password to authenticate to one another and point each ILS to the other’s IP address. That allows the servers to dynamically share URI’s, Enterprise Alternate Numbers and Patterns. The actual calls traverse SIP trunks. You would make the SIP trunk to the other organization or to other clusters within your company - doesn’t matter. SIP trunks are just destinations IP addresses. ILS makes the sharing of URIs dynamic - but you could just as easily make static URI mappings using SIP Route Patterns that point to SIP trunks. For example, if you are red.com and I want to call you - I would make a SIP Route Pattern to “red.com” and link it to a SIP trunk that points to your CUCM servers or CUBE and now any dialed number in my cluster that ends with red.com (bob@red.com, 3001@red.com, etc.) would be sent to you. Hope this helps. -John

What sip phone are you using? awesome video BTW. helps a ton.

Glad you found it useful. That phone program is IP Blue. They simulate many types of Cisco phones.

I noticed that you did not set the Blue and Red servers to the same "Synchronize Clusters Every*" ILS Configuration minutes (2 vs 10) to the same number. Could this create an issue, or is Red just going to learn slower?

I should have waited a minute before commenting.

Hi Landrew, It’s definitely a possibility. You would probably want to match the times up on all of the servers within their production deployment. Thanks for watching! -John

Quick Question John , is it possible to enable Extension Mobility Cross Cluster via SME without configuring CUCM inter-Cluster ?
@SunsetlearningInstitute6 жыл бұрын
Hello, No, they are completely separate. Cross cluster extension mobility will need to be configured on it’s own. Thanks, John
