I'm a native Arab and currently I'm learning Spanish, French randomly but in weekly basis at least, I've never thought of tracking my language studies because I know I'm not gonna be able to study every day with my life chores ( med student) but when I saw how realistic you are I felt really relieved I mean you had some months off of learning languages so had I but people tend to pretend that they're perfect and productive and learn 24/7 which made me feel crap and avoid the idea of tracking my language learning 😂 thank you a lot

WHoah! I just saw on the cover of one of your books "live, travel, bless, and don't be sorry." and I immediately recognized it as a line from Desolation Angels. Kerouac is my favorite author, and your video made my day! Cool people are still out there in the world!!! 😁

I have to say your English is very good. Keep going. It may not seem like your progressing but learning a language takes time and practice. If you are are doing classes, this is easier cause it forces you to learn the language. If you do it from home, it can be hard cause you might skip days and than it can be weeks before you pick it up again. As someone that has learned languages other than English (even English speaking people learn English, like spelling, grammer etc) I would listen to shows in the language that I am studying whether that is on TV, KZbin or other media such as Netflix, Amazon, etc. Since my family is from The Netherlands, I listen to Dutch news and also watch clips that are in Dutch. Also another thing that helped is to have a special diary of grammer, spelling, meaning or pronunciation of words. Like for example- put down the words whether and weather, which is said the same way but have different meanings and reasons to be used. Weather has to do with what is going on outside such as rain, hail, thunder, sunny, cloudy and so on. Whether means when you are expressing something you doubt or making a choice between alternatives. Than its a matter of using it in sentences and trying to learn which weather/whether to use. Sometimes even using kids grammer books of the language you are learning can help improve grammer and even spelling if you can find a spelling book. Don't be discouraged.

@@SapphirasMama Thank you for the experience and methods that you shared with me . I am learning English at home through reciting words and reading some English books everyday. Every time when I communicate with others in English, I feel a little bit disappointed with my English. Sometimes because I couldn’t understand what people said , sometimes because I forgot some words which I should have remembered. That kind of thing frustrates me a lot. I know I should be more patient, but it’s really hard for me cause I’m a impatient person😂😂 But this time i wish I will keep learning and don’t give up in the half way again.

Like I said your spelling and most of the grammer is great. You have to remember that most people who speak English forget to speak slowly for those that have little English or learning the language. Its a matter of going over the words, phrases and sentences over and over again. For understanding, watching KZbin clips may be a good option for you. If they ask you a question during the vlog, pause and see if you can come up with an answer in English. You could even write it out first before answering. This way you learn to respond quicker to questions asked or put in your own opinion or situation. It all takes practice. There are also some free courses you can do online that are based for people that are learning English. Also KZbin probably has channels where people teach others how to speak English as well and would be slower in their speech. Eventually, if you practice enough you too can watch a vlog and not have to worry about whether the clip has your subtitles or not

Thank you for the inspiration. I am inspired to pick up some language studies again. Have not focused on any in decades. And being introduced to the Nuuna notebooks is makeing it even more appealing. I have some old french language study books stored somewhere that I Will have a look through. Another idea is to pick up German as I have friends who are native speakers and when they meet and I join they speak german, I understand it (had 4 years of German in high School, my native language is dutch, so it should not be too difficult). Thank you, I love Wakenius up on Sunday and spending my morning Tea with you. 😊. Greetings from Huskvarna.

Research says it takes roughly 500-1000 hours to learn a language that's related to your native tongue, and 2200 hours for smt very different (e.g. chinese if you normally speak a germanic language). These hours are "intentional practice" so it's not just casually consuming.

I think you should do whatever you want. Everyone has their own way of learning and none of them is better ir worse than the others. Great video as always!

I can read and understand dutch and close related languages (I do better with reading and understanding anyway) but struggle with writing and speaking. With writing I can get there if I truely practice over and over but speaking another language is another issue. I can think the word, but no matter how my mouth works and how many times I say the word, my tongue gets sort of tongue-tied and finds it hard. But than again I had issues with even English and needed speech therapy cause I made my own language up. For years I had no clue why until I found out I was autistic. Now I just keep practicing my understanding, reading and writing as I feel better with those. Now science, especially, animals is my jam. If its mammals, birds or reptiles, than I am so into learning more. I really into animal behaviour, watching what the animal is doing and trying to figure out why they would do that. I do have a Bachelor of Zoology but to have a career in that is hard cause you need a PhD. I am wanting to help cats stay in their homes or new kitties that are adopted stay in their forever homes. But I am also into accounting maths. I can learn it really fast and I may have some work in it shortly. Will see how I go

I am planning to get back to my language studies soon as I am graduating and just finished my thesis. Still have one exam left before I can graduate in June. But this inspired me to get back on reading the book I bought from Korea. I have read like 10% of it so far last summer and never got back to it because of school. I really like it though, it is called 나 같은 사람 또 있을까 by 3AM Essay or your_3am on IG
