This video shows the basics of welding two stainless steel tabs together. We cover fill wire on a lap weld and as well as a surface weld. These techniques can be combined to fill holes on the surface of parts.

This is the best piece of Pulse Arc welding footage I have seen so far (and I've been looking for 2 years). The 4K footage remained in focus throughout, which in itself is a rarity with macro video but also had the ability to zoom in further. The presenter was clear, precise and informative, completely explaining the 'why and how to' technics. As an owner of both the C100 Pulse Arc and the Dado Laser Welder, it's this type of basic video instruction an inexperienced/newbie welder requires. Well done Orion, please make more of these..!

Hello, Steve, Brass is not a good choice for this machine. The zinc content of brass causes it to vaporize and results in failed, messy welds. Copper however is possible when it is soft. The softer the copper the easier it is to weld.

Would this system work on Pot Metal?

It will, but you won't get a clean weld like you are seeing in the video. Pot metal does not weld well. You can use silver wire to help with strength and to help the weld look cleaner.

Hello Brian, For this example we were using around 15ws.

Do the pieces need to be grounded for the welder to work correctly? Also, does this unit require argon gas to function?

At least one of the 2 parts need to be grounded to produce any welds. As a rule it is recommended to keep the ground close to weld area and to attach the ground to the larger of the parts when applicable. This machine also requires argon to produce welds properly.
