Good video, one thing you should not handle the uv bulb with your bare fingers, if you do make sure you clean it with alcohol and let dry before you install it due to the acidic sweat on your fingers because this causes premature failure of the bulb.

If you accidentally crack the UV protection glass, it means water leaks in and may contact the electricity parts, and you have to turn off the whole thing right? You lose not only UV but also the filtre itself...or is there a safety mechanism??

I get the magnet part of the uv ligh. I just got my new sun pun filter and I can not tell if the uv light is on or off. The magnets are lined up but other then pushing the red button I don't know if my light is on or off

My 404b just started shutting off and on on its own after 5 years... My 302b is still cranking after 7 years. Probably overkill tobjave both plus an internal dilter on my 60 gallon that has 1 small map turtle and 1 convict xiclid, a green spotted puffer and 3 hardcore neon tetras. Its been doing this for weeks. Sometimes uts loud others its not. I figure ots still cranking 250gph if it does 550gph normally... It gets warm to the touch when it shuts off...

Hello from Buffalo, New York! Just purchased the HW-302. I am already running API XP M on a 75 gallon tank. My two goldfish are now 7" long. I needed to add filtration to keep up with the waste. Hi . I have a sunsun 303b which is sucking in air from somewhere. I have checked all the connections and there is no air going in from the tank to the sunsun. I covered the nozzles on the hose adapter with teflon tape in case air was being sucked in from there and also around the o-ring on the lid but air still seems to Robin from somewhere. Could you assist and advise how I can trouble shoot and find where the air could be leaking in from? Thank you for your kind assistance. Regards Ally

I think I am too, I tilt it and air moves out and for a few seconds it sounds fine. Then it starts humming and I have to "burp" it again, then it just happens again. Not sure why.

@@code1635 I found air being sucked in from the intake nozzle on the hose adapter so sealed it with teflon tape. For a while it was ok then started again. This time it was the o-ring on the lid so I changed the o-ring and it was working fine until now. Since last week it has started sucking in air again so will need to take it apart again and see where the leak is. Similarly, you will need to check your unit carefully to find where the air is entering. I wrote to sun sun to assist with troubleshooting and they were very unhelpful. Either they don't understand English or purposely were behaving this way. They simply said they don't ship the units or parts to Kenya. I wrote back to them clarifying that I don't want parts but assistance in troubleshooting but they didn't reply back. Although the machine was good and lasted quite a few years, I don't think I am going to buy another sunsun with their kind of attitude & customer support.

@@code1635 Yes the first time if there are any air bubbles stuck in the media it will slowly come up over the next one or two days. I'm glad your issue was resolved.

As long as the glass sleeve is still on (not cracked), then the canister is safe to operate. Replace the UV light if it is cracked. Do not run the canister without the glass sleeve.

Can you do a real time test on how much water each pushes? FIll up a container for 6o seconds and weigh it. If it fill ups 20 liters the LPM will be 20 LPH will be 1200 LPH OR 263 GPH.

Dean W if ever shutting filter off make sure to lift the stop valve lever first so water stays in pipes which will make priming easier, also gentle shake the filter when running in all directions this helps release trapped air this works for me on both my canisters

The main difference between to two are that HW-303B is a 4-stage canister filter that goes up to 370gph. The HW-304B is a 5-stage canister that goes up to 525gph.

Hello! Please, can you help me? I need a filter for an aquarium of 240 liters gross, I had thought about the SunSun but I do not know which model is the most suitable. By power with the HW-703B (1400 LPH) it would be enough, but I need great capacity to store Biological material (Use Biohome Ultimate), approximately I need to store about 4kg of Biohome ... The 703B model I do not know if it can store so much biological material, it only has 3 baskets, one I must use it for mechanical filtering, therefore I only have 2 baskets left to store biological material, and I have to subtract the space occupied by the UV lamp, I'm not sure I can store 4kg of Biohome Ultimate between those two baskets ... The model HW-704B has 4 baskets, I am sure that I will be able to store enough biological material, but I am worried that the flow of 2000 LPH is excessive for my aquarium of 240 liters gross (approximately 205/210 real liters) and cause excessive movement of water, which, would not be good, neither for plants nor for fish ... It is a community aquarium of Amazonian style, with many aquatic plants and enough tropical fish, prawns (Caridina Multidentata), and snails Nerita The measurements of the aquarium are 120 centimeters long, 45 centimeters wide, 50 centimeters high (not counting the furniture, only the aquarium) If the actual flow of these filters is reduced between 40% and 50%, once they are installed and loaded with filtering material, the HW-703B filter would move around more than 3 times per hour the liters of my aquarium .. . That's enough. In the case of the 704B, calculating the same power reduction, between 40% to 50%, this filter would move about 5 times per hour the liters of my aquarium .... ¿Maybe this is too much for my aquarium? Again, it is an aquarium with many aquatic plants, Mangrove trunks, rocks, and plenty of fish. Please What filter do you recommend me? Do you recommend the option with UV lamp? You can always introduce loops and curves in your outgoing tubing which will slow down the flow rate. I would highly recommend to not use the UV lamp as UV destroys everything it contacts including internal plastic components of the canister. Instead, use an in-line UV filter or a separate UV filter (I prefer in-line heaters and UV filters because they're not seen). The video also recommends use of Vaseline to condition o-rings but I recommend against doing that because Vaseline is a petroleum derivative. Instead, use silicone grease, which is very cheap.

Hi im buddy and i just bought a 703B 2months ago ut unfrtunately , it still does not work. First its flow was too weak and it was noisy. The impeller was loose at its rotor so i tried to fix it with adhesive, so it became quiet but no water flow. The impeller was rotating when i verified it. Is it ok if water leaks when i tilt the cannister? I ordered a replacememt filter but i dont have it yet. What else can i check? Can you message me at messenger, kanapibuddy. my 402b UV don't work.. I've tried buying new bulbs and it don't work. Edit: (Update). It turns out, there's a safety mechanism. If you install the top the wrong way, the UV light will not work. There's a magnet in one of the sides and you have to install the top the right way for it to magnetize the connection and then the UV light will work. For those who don't read instructions or have missed it 😅😅😅🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️
