u see the Re number where sperms swim are very low much less than 1, thus the inertial effect is zero, as a result the only way it can move is by nonreciprocating motion. Now imagine u are swimming in a pond, even u undergo reciprocating motion, u will move forward, since the inertial effects is more prominent as the Re is much much higher. btw fast is relative.
