SUP VS FOIL DRIVE | CODE FOILS w KU & CASEY

Josh Ku and James Casey give a detailed test of the entire Code Foils range using their Stand Up Paddle Board and a Foil Drive setup in a flat water environment.
They both had one chance attempting to get each foil out of the water using their SUP and FOIL DRIVE.
Being at different weights the two found out some very interesting characteristics about the R and S ranges from CODE and the different techniques to get these foils flying.
This is a very handy tutorial for SUP flat water paddling and FOIL DRIVE technique as both individuals are team riders for FOIL DRIVE and professionals at SUP.

Interesting to see a different take on using foil drive for testing. By limiting the power output of the system it starts to introduce more variables again where as on full power its just not an issue! By setting it to medium power things like weight and board selection really come into play. Would love to see James boost up on full power on those tiny foils!!

Yeah it showed how much my extra weight played a part. Also showed at what size of foil the board became less important. By limiting the throttle it probably gave us more informative results. Full power would've been way too easy!

We are going to do a shorter video comparing exactly this, unfortunately we did not have a 1075R on hand for this shoot, was a bummer but did save us another paddle up! Seriously tiring by the end of it haha!

I want to buy you guys a nice t handle torx driver. The little L shaped keys do the job. But a t handle tool makes multiple changes back and forth like that so much nicer.

Cool video guys. Would be interesting to do another test with Gen 2 set to HIGH power mode and full 20% boost you would have a very different result. Also a super small prone board vs long DW board are extremely different use caes so that was interesting to see. Well done to both of you paddeling up such small wings. The R's R amazing pun intended

Great video! I know the video is not about foil drive system but To understand better, The medium setting does that effect the boost setting aswell? I always thought those are two separate settings. Correct me if iam wrong :) but I thought the Boost is the system giving you a little more then maximum power (boost) for a period of time (e.g 15 seconds) and the Medium settings is an overall downgraded power mode after boost has ended to preserve energy. Let me know what is correct :)

I think James will get up on foil drive easier if he uses a bigger board. At medium boost the power is not enough for this board to plane flat on the surface and gain enough speed to lift off.

100% a bigger board or higher boost mode would've made it better but realistically the results are better by seeing at what point I can get up. This was a video to show the stall speeds of the foils, not so much comparing SUP and Foil Drive. It was an interesting addition though!
