Think of this video as a sort of "addendum" video to the last one, the Top 10 worst operators. It explains the reasoning I usually go through when giving the verdict of "bad" to an operator. Of course the possibilities of why an operator can be bad aren't limited to just these 5, there is plenty of other reasons and many are operator specific. understandable so, if operator is hard or awkward to use, or costs too much DP, or requires a learning curve - we should neglect it in favour of easier and more optimised units since arknights is an online competitive game with very hard stages to beat without having every possible edge in our hands 👍

Vigil actually has a niche. If one day a boss that can't be nuked down and can only be blocked by units with 3 Block is added into a CC (or, well, its replacement) with a Block down tag, apparently Vigil's wolves aren't affected by the Block down tag. It's just that, you know, we've never had that niche be needed

Ok let just say that boss exist and we have the block down tag, what do you think will happen next ? The wolf will block the boss and it gonna get one-shoted anyway. Remember the wolf only have 1100 hp(not counting hp down tag) before it goes down to 2. In this situation is just better to use suzuran to slow it down and kill it.

The high learning curve for little reward is a very good point. There's really no reason to use weaker operators other than because you like the character, like self-imposed challenged or just want to show off.

it's about "what does fulfil you personally" if you are grabbing surtr for every stage, finish event in 2 hours - and then feel "daaamn, that was so good - i really enjoyed all of the stages and the way i beat them" - then yes, you are doing the right thing but if peeps playing for the sake of simply winning and not having fun in the process - then the whole point is lost

Ebenholz is quite finicky to use true but I find it fairly easy to just spawn camp elites with him. As long as the frequency of elites is less than one every 20 seconds he can handle them easily

My girl Frostleaf has been done SO dirty. My girl stinky as hell with how much her kit sucks. I know modules are kind of stupid sometimes, but I legitimately look forward to the day Frostleaf gets a module and she gets a second ability that allows her to deal extra damage to slowed or binded enemies or at the very least allows her to inflict cold with her normal attacks giving her a legitimate niche. No, I am NOT huffing copium. Frostleaf already has been done dirty even in the actual Arknights canon, she really deserves better than whatever the hell her kit is! XP At the very least, Frostleaf would be a much simpler fix than Spuria and Quartz because at least she's in a overall good archtype that hasn't had a module yet. Not even Spuria's module could make her useable, and Quartz even with a good module I'd argue is impossible to legitimately fix because her archtype is the actual worst. She could be given an actual defense stat and she would still suck ass because of everything else surrounding her. Those two would actually have literally everything about them completely scrapped and rebuilt from the ground-up to be even remotely decent. And while Frostleaf is technically still the worst unit, I geniunely believe she could have a chance to be remotely useable if HG bothered to make small tweaks to her abilities or just give her a new ability like they did with units like Shirayuki (who also has an ability that lowers her ASPD, but actually gives her more ATK, and it's on a unit with already slow ASPD so it's not the worst trade-off). I guess what I've been trying to say with this goddamn essay of a comment is that while some units are simply bad because they were a complete mistake to begin with as with the case with units like Quartz, others are bad but they absolutely DON'T NEED TO BE. Some of these bad units could be on the verge of being actually decent units (or at the very least far less bad) with just the smallest bit of tweaks to their kits. But the sad truth is that HG can't be bothered with any of this shit and would rather just keep throwing shit at the wall to see what sticks instead of actually helping out operators that desperately need it. But I'm just a random Frostleaf simp on copium giving out his thoughts on the matter.

I know what SUPAH said, but SUPAH's reasoning has one major flaw: Being bad at a strong role is much, much better than being mediocre in a bad role (Jackie, Beehunter, Tsukinogi), or just being bad in a bad role (Quartz). To verify this, ask yourself: What unit am I likely to pick more? Beehunter, a 1-block guard with a luck-based dodge-mechanic who is completely useless against moderate defense enemies or stronger, or Frostleaf, a Bad Lord with solid basic stats, 2 block, a wider attack range and the ability to hit flyers? For most of AK's content, FrostLeaf is going to be better, solely by the grace of her archetype, if only because being able to do SOME damage at range over multiple lanes to light and medium defense enemies while blocking 2 enemies beats the hell out of doing jack-shit against a third of the enemy roster and not even excelling in that regard. And no, Beehunter excelling in precisely one specific place in CC does not change that whatsoever because CC is objectively, a tiny fraction of AK's content. And Beehunter isn't even the worst unit; that's Quartz. A unit whose entire archetype is only useful as a Hammer in a Hammer & Anvil chokepoint configuration...and who is completely outdone by the Juggernaut and Dreadnought archetypes in every way even at her rarity or less.

As someone who's still quite new in Arknights, I like guides that explain an operator as a whole, (Advantages and Disadvantages). I understand that the game has a lot of operators that can potentially be god tier in a specific circumstance or if you were the least skilled CN player, but just because my lawnmower can cut grass, doesn't mean it can cut hedges too. This helps me judge whether I have a place for them on my team, and whether or not I can supplement/handle their quirks, and not just another operator that could be good if I built for one level, only to be left in Closure's Bargain Bin.

The game takes brain power when you start out but I found it fun and enjoyable and I have kept playing even if I start almost a year post launch.

there isn't much to catch up this isn't HI3 - where you need specific operator with matching type/element to do the weekly abyss run coz game has weekly modifiers; arknights operates on rule "If it works, it works". That's why we have so much nicheKnights going on and all of them are viable just relax, build whoever you want and gradually build your skill; you'll eventually overgrow your operators and stop (possibly) feeling pressured to kill every mice with a warhammer

Funnily enough, the one useful thing I used quartz on is her tanking the artillery in chapter 10 without dying, so I can just let her be lane holder with skill 1 and a medic for support XD

I actually did something similar with Hung! The 15% less damage module works against true damage as well (Idl why but I'm not complaining) and because he has 3 block, def sp that benefits from plentiful shity enemies, and self healing he managed to stop every enemy in it's tracks and survive the canon by himself, freeing a team spot!

I adore mostima. This is entirely because she buffs goldenglows SP regen. That's honestly reason enough. At this point most of my strategies are just "goldenglow, and whoever else exists who can buff goldenglow or help not die whilst goldenglow isn't doing everything"

Mostima was always mediocre, but she was always so much fun that for like a year at the start I brought her everywhere. A few weeks ago I finally S3M3 and max module her. So worth it, I can finally bring her to all stages again without questioning my choices. Now she is useful just by existing in a corner even if she never attacks. (Tho I still prefer it when she attacks obviously) Also I forgot how useful her talent is for SP regen on the casters I already use. Her utility overall is so good now.

I like Ebenholz' S2 with Sui's wrath in IS3 (Sui's wrath : deal 3000 true damage every time an allied unit is deployed). Yes that collectible works with every single ghost thingy Eben summons.

Carnelian is a phalanx caster, she supposed to be a psuedo defender that you can deploy on the ranged tile. So, i think making her activate her skill to deal damage is optional.. Until they released pink rat.

Hey SUPAH, great vid but I think you always miss the core issue with Nigthmare. In my opinion the slow part is not that bad, because if you're not blocking the enemy it'll usually deal considerable dmg. The true issie in my opinion is that you can't be creative with it because of the way she is coded. 'Cause the logical thing would be (to my mind) is to pair her with a pusher like Weedy, but (this is not standed in the description of her s2, but i tested it) THE DEBUFF ONLY APPLIES IN HER RANGE AND IF THE ENEMY LEAVES HER RANGE THE DEBUFF IMMEDIATLY DISAPPERS. So in a sense she is bRoKeN.

Is this an intermittent bug? I've had enemies die from the S2 true damage after an enemy exited Nightmare's range. I've also retreated Nightmare immediately after her skill triggered just to test how much damage it deals. I didn't try using her with Weedy though. Can you record a vid of this bug or tell me which stage and setup you used? Note: My Weedy's S3 is not M3. I'm interested.

His wolf is pretty good for baiting the big cannon.. aaand for the previous CC event. He was able to pull double duty in blocking and killing early enemies and generating some amount of dp. The only reason I like Vigil is because is S1 alone makes him (or mainly his wolves) a free defender, since the wolves doesn't take up deployment cost unlike Monst3r. But indeed, the way he generates DP sucks ass and I can just use Elysium S1 M3 with ease. His E2 design is just so cool I often think 'good E2 art = good kit/skills', but that's not the case for him, sadly.

I think the problem with Vigil is Beanstalk in many ways does it better, her 3 block summon and resuscitation skills are slow, but they are also on command, meaning you can time WHEN you want the extra blockers, that said, Blacknight has the same problem, but makes it up with more "offensive" skills. Vigil has shitty tri-block, which alwayse seems to be worn down before I can use it.

I do not care how good or bad an operator is. Everyone finds fun in their own ways, some people wanna be the best while I wanna make my own stories and thus do pretty much whatever my heart desires. I was given the choice of building Aciddrop or Pinecone to have an anti-high defense close-range sniper and I chose Aciddrop despite her just being worse, because I liked her more and found her more fun. I had the choice of building Lappland or Thorns or Ayerscarpe as my main Lords to use. I build Lappland because she's my favorite character in all media and use her in pretty much every single stage ever, I sometimes whip out Thorns, and I plan to build Ayerscape in the future when I think he'd be fun to mesh with others, even though his talent is just worse Angelina who I also have yet decided not to build because she's not fun to me. I do not care about meta. I happen to go into meta when I think it'll be fun or that one time I built Surtr from E0 to E2 in a single day just because I was getting mad at a single stage I was stuck in and then now I never use her ever again. That's basically the one and only exception and I think that's fair because that stage sucked-no one likes getting stuck. Needless to say, my opinion shifts greatlyaway from people who actually care about being the best. Like, I legit plan to beat Talulah with the main squad being Lappland, Glaucus, Absinthe, and Kirara. I am that committed to my favorite characters that I would do the craziest shit to make the comp work. That's how I personally find fun. Other people find fun their own way and that's p cool that the game allows that variety.

Been in the game...how long has it been out now...3 months after release anyways. Since the beginning I always watched or read guides that explained the good and bad of a unit. Then Mostima happened and I was a simp. Some time later she got her module lv 3 and I became a bigger simp. Anyways I agree with your points, contradictory kits, long cooldowns, having to adjust all strategy around one unit for it to do it's thing and some others. But alot of the units are bad but still fun or amusing.

I actually use Toddifons alot especially in IS as she's pretty versatile, good range skill one hit's heavy targets hard with a 20% defence debuff and a 120% attack buff and skill 2 hits hard with AOE. Overall a pretty good operator.

Vigil ticks 2, 3, 4, 6 and arguably even 1. Though 1 is not that bad as people say I think. Vigil can actually do insane dps, but since his wolves die so fast due to bad stats it hardly matters in practice so the dps falls off towards subpar numbers anyhow. Module can fix his wolf survival, but it will still be worse than Mumu for damage, utility and flexibility at that point so +F Vigil.

I like Hooel, eveen at E1 50, she pulls a lot of weight in various stages and events with S2 being a burst dps that kills elites, bosses, and all kinds of other stuff on a rather fast cooldown. Since it interrupts enemies, it also decreases the pressure on my guards which are no more than E1 50/55. Also comboes well with marksman snipers that can finally use their anti air bonuses.

For me some operator are suck because they have bad skill cycle. Short duration skill with short downtime is much better than long duration skill with long downtime for me. My girl Leizi pre-module have a really bad skill cycle despite the good dps, 80 sp make her usually only activate her skill once or twice per stage, but the module fix all of her issues. She also become my core operator in SSS despite having many good 6 stars since her skill basically always up. I just hope HG can be better at designing module AND who they choose to get them, like what's the point of giving Texas alter and Ling a module when you have Vigil and Frostleaf that desperately need it?

When an operator become usable, the operator works, if it's situational or versatile is based on the own operator style, the same apply to dependents operators and just for this isn't bad (Nightmare for example that make me remeber Kuroko playstyle) I do not guess that broken stategies should be compared, especially when realize meta in Arknights is most used to think less... in a strategy game I know that you never sayed this and you refered to something else, but I just want to clarify this. My definition of bad operator is any and all operators who isnt a spreadshooter sniper and doesnt have a skill that increases their attack by a large amount, doubles their shot, slows enemies, reduces enemy defense, and has an ammo system that can be deactivated anytime 💀

Genuine question here: Is DP cost even a thing anymore? People keep bring it, but at the same time they keep saying how much Flag-Pipe has broken DP generation so much that DP is basically a none stat

Not really. DP cost isn't a factor unless you bring 3 to 5 high DP cost units. Which means high DP cost is still a problem if: 1) You don't have flagpipe, this is a gacha. Or 2) You put 3 to 5 high cost units in the squad.

Summoners are, in fact, bad. You need to learn them and when you're done it's still better to use anyone else. While objectively speaking they can do great things like solo a lot of stages, it's just not worth it compared to using normal operators for much more reward obtained easier.

First of all people that argue that arknights has no bad operators has SERIOUS copium issues And secondly what makes an operator bad is not its lackluster damage its the terrible niche covarage And operator can litterally deal 700k true damage and it will still be bad if it only usable on non elite weight 1 enemies An operator not doing its niche properly also fits into this Ebenholz is the most painful example of this His kit is obviously ST huge burst damage orianted but his s2 is just completely against this and his s3 outside the first burst hardly uses this niche

Gummy is best operator! How about operators who are 5* traps/resource black holes? Can you do a video taking trash about operators to avoid if you have a better option from the 6*, 5*, or even 4* lists? You already covered why Saileach doesn’t compete with Myrtle or even Elysium. How about more examples, like why Click is second only to Goldenglow among that type of caster (especially for the investment).

As a Mostima and Skadi main this thumbnail hurts my soul. Global slow is nice for giving other operators time to charge up in long paths and having a emergency stop moving button that doubles as an Arts nuke at an exit has saved me a few times especially when the map decided the only way to nerf Texas was to remove ground tiles entirely...

Vigil is my go-to lane holder and vanguard when dealing with fewer OPs risks in CC, he's like a half Mountain + half exu + half scavenger. And he does a really good job at that, people just hate that he can't solo bosses being a vanguard, I think only Bagpipe can and she's the best vanguard in the game 🤔 Also, pair him with gnosis so the enemy can't kill the wolfpack and Vigil's S3 gets REALLY strong

Vigil optimally can do 4.8k dps without a debuffer or buffer. With only Skalter S2 buff it goes up to 7,2k iirc. The issue is how clunkily squish his wolves are so he almost never does peak damage. I love using my boy, but I can't claim he is an alpha wolf like this. So much fun to use, and the role compression is underrated. He is clunky, true, but he is overhated. He is still pretty decent overall unlike Frostleaf or Tsukinogi.

his S2 are pretty much adnaciel kit, he will ignore all air unit if there are ranged mob on his range. the good thing is it targeting quirk came from his S2 and not his talent so he can still act like anti air sniper when S2 is not active.

@@januszpolak254 rather than calling it "bad", i would say "not great" because of his S2 targeting priority. in my opinion when an ops that already have unique targeting system (like anti-air sniper that focus at aerial/hovering enemies etc) change their targeting priority because of talent or skill will make them a bit complicated to use since their basic role will be override when things happen. adnaciel are the most obvious example of this where he will ignore aerial enemies when enemy caster in his range....

He is indeed pretty good, he deals very good damage and his ammo system gives you a lot of control over his skill cycles (pretty much a sidegrade to Kroos alter and Platinum) people talk about his weird targeting system but that's really one of the reasons to use him, to weed out dangerous ranged enemies from amongst groups of enemies, and unlike Adnachiel this priority is tied to a skill rather than permanent, so if you need him to switch back to prioritizing drones you can manually deactivate his skill whenever you need.

7:00 its hard to explain but I will use Gummy as an example to describle Elben; For you, using Gummy on every stage doesnt feel like a bad way to play and Elben users actually like having to adapt to play around him so its basically the same; the "annoying mechanic" for using him isnt annoying at all because they enjoy it. Yes, it isnt for everybody but its like saying playing a specific *class*knights isnt fun for you, fun is objective. I myself like Fia and Rosmontis but I know I will have to focus the strategy around them cuz they attention and Im ok with that cuz I like using them to deal with things.
