Outside of these two, it really made me think about how often people leave Exusiai, she event comments on it when Sora leaves to go with Texas. Most everyone in her life has either left her, even if for a short while, or she was forced to leave them.

I don't think Lappland actually wanted Texas to leave Siracusa before deciding to leave Giovanna, the reason Lappland admires Texas is because once she was able to break the system and do something Lappland thought as impossible Even if on the surface it may seem like Lappland wanted Texas to have her faith destroyed, I believe that deep down what she wanted was to witness her break the system once more (and everything after this in based on that assumption), but to do that, she needed to be faced with a difficult situation, during which the courage she displayed towards her own self would come out again, and do something that Lappland herself could not even begin to understand. Lappland has been shown to be amazingly smart and clever, she was able to gather info and predict pretty much everything that was going on in Siracusa during the story, and she did this in order to manipulate the order and timing of events and decisions from the Families in a way that would present Texas with that difficult situation. My point is that deep down what Texas did, something that conflicts with the system, is what Lappland wanted from her, to be able to become inspired by her. Maybe she fooled herself into thinking what happened during the Purge was purely out of luck, she took advantage of the situation to escape the swamp. What Lappland wanted was to confirm if what happened that day was luck, or was Texas actually an entity who could break the system she thought as being way to big for someone to face on their own. At the end of the day, Lappland always hated Siracusa, if someone is first in line to destroy the system, is her, but precisely because of that perception is why her failed attempts were so damaging to her psyche "If I'm the strongest Saluzzo and I hate Siracusa, and I can't escape the system, who can? No one" And she herself hated that perception, what she desired was for someone to prove her wrong, and Texas was the only one who was in her eyes, capable enough to make her doubt herself about the swamp, that's deep down why she became obsessed with Texas.

Yeah, I absolutely agree with you. Lappland wants the system destroyed and Texas is her anchor in this, having been once successful. While struggling with her own powerlessness. So her keeping Texas in Volsinii is a means to both inspire herself and destroy the system. This is also why she joins them at the end when meeting Signora Sicilia. This is the destruction she was waiting for starting to happen. Their final fight ties into this. She didn't want to die. Nor did she want to kill Texas. What she wanted is to reconfirm that the swamp is being dried up. She was still stuck in her own self-imposed powerlessness to a degree. Her defeat would mean that she could leave it in Texas' capable hands, her victory would have meant that she herself has the power to do so. But when she sees the unwillingness to give up in Texas' eyes, she realises that both are true. It's not either or, it's both. Which brings me to her encounter with Zaaro. Why would she choose to confront and join forces with this Lord of Wolves? Well. He was a major player that used Volsinii and Bernardo for his own ends, never caring too much what exactly happened to the city or Siracusa. It's just another way to gain dominance over the Wilderness. But the city bit back, and he was left without his Fang and both Emperor and the other Wolf Lords established his loss in this round. Meaning that he now is both in need of a new Fang and at least ambivalent towards Siracusa. Him "submitting" to Lappland is him acknowledging that she is both suited to be his Fang and accepting what she is offering: The return of the land to the Wilderness. So in a way, Zaaro is Lappland's insurance and feather to tip the scales when Nuova Volsinii has to confront the system of the Famiglia once more.

This is a wonderful take. I may have figured some of it for myself when seeing the story too, though it's quite a lot to keep in mind to be certain about the specific intentions of Lappland indeed. To Lappland, as something I did think to myself before, Texas is the person who accomplished everything Lappland ever wanted to do, when she couldn't. Yes.

@@Chara-yp6zj I was able to keep it in mind because I'm down bad horrendous for Lappers XDDDD But yeah, as I said Lappland is actually a very smart person, and that's kind of the issue, she tried to escape, failed, went through a couple of logical steps, and concluded something based on her own experience, but she didn't take into account that maybe someone else could act outside of the logical steps she designed, that's what made Texas so interesting to her, because everyone else actually was acting according to her constructed perception of the world. Because she's smart and clever and constructed such a high fidelity perception of Siracusa is precisely why Texas was so interesting to her. When the Lore bomb dropped with this event I started to understand that Lappland is not insane, she's never been insane, her brain is perfectly fine, she's just the natural outcome of the experiences she's had. If there's a recipe called "Lappland's Life" and you follow it, what will come out of the oven is Lappland, she's literally what Alberto wanted, except for the influence Texas had on her, that's what broke the recipe Alberto had and Lappland turned into something completely different, a Monster (As he himself stated, yes, Alberto called his daughter a Monster) I fully believe the true MC who had the most character development in this event was Lappland, and I enjoyed it so much

And that, generally when there is anyone that you misunderstand, and commonly choose to hate them for their chaotic place in your world, it is because they are living their own world, with the same rules, but with specially crafted results for any given interaction... And for me, it is learning what worlds all different kinds of people have, to appreciate them, and to get one step closer to achieving the perception of the world as a whole. And that is why Lappland is also my favorite character in Il Siracusano, second being Penance and her virtues.

@@Chara-yp6zj Yes, Lappland is just misunderstood by everyone, except for Texas, she's probably the one who understands Lappland's state better than anyone else, probably even better than Lappland herself, which is why she was able to help Lappland overcome her logic-based world and break everything, just like Texas herself did when everything was falling apart. The difference is that what Texas showed to Lappland back then was exhaustion. Now she shows herself to Lappland as a warrior, with courage, which was able to motivate Lappland into becoming what she wanted to be all along. And that's what Lappland wanted Texas to do, to show her the way, because as she stated, Texas is the way

How i see their relationship is like this Lappland actually always felt some kind of admiration towards Texas, mixed with strong jealousy to the fact Texas could do what Lappland could not. As you can see, conflicting feelings. That's why she both stalks her, trying to feel a glimpse of that freedom she has, and why she tries to do the things she does in Il Siracusano. If Texas, the perfect Siracusan, can't escape, she doesn't have to feel bad about failing to escape. After their fight in the end of Il Siracuasno, Lappland discovered something new. She always dedined herself based on Texas. That's why she fought she had to kill her to be free : to be her own model. But she realized mid fight that she was wrong : Texas was always Texas, and Lappland was always Lappland. She didnt need to kill her to be herself, because she already was I love how they gave Lappland more deep. She isnt just crazy. She isn't crazy anymore. She is sociopathic yes, but she is now at peace with herself, now that she escaped her past life. From Neutral Evil, she went to Chaotic Neutral. As for Texas, she HAS a bond with Lappland. She does find her annoying yes. But she still considers her has a friend, someone that counts to her because of all the hardships they came through together. Remember the discussion between Exusiai and that old Sankta about the nature of friendship, and bond, how being antagonistic doesnt prevent bond and friendship. That just takes sense here. Now we can wander if Lapplands interaction in the game are pre or past IS. Because if it is past she may very well just be taunting Texas just for fun. But i doubt thats that so... Lappalter when?

I like your insight, I agree that Lappland is not crazy or insane, in fact, I feel like she's the natural outcome of the experiences she had. When her lore was revealed, everything made sense, she wasn't mentally ill anymore, her state at all points in the story was perfectly rational. I believe Lappland has never been insane, there's nothing malfunctioning in her brain, if her life conditions are a recipe, then what came out of the oven is what you would expect. I also agree that Texas and Lappland do share a bond, is not one-sided. Trying to explain it is hard but I think that they trust eachother, and what that means is that even if they are opposed, they can trust that the other will not pull a sucker punch, they'll face in a fair fight, in a fair argument, in a fair assasination, probably even respecting and carrying on the ideals of the one who bleeds, that's the kind of bond and trust they share

​I think she's not crazy at all. The way Lappland sees interpersonal relationships were highly influenced by her upbringing. Her father is pretty fucked up in the head with how he views and cares for people. Her father represents how the famiglia in Siracusa takes pride in their warped morality. He thinks him not killing Lappland was an act of mercy, because she is his daughter. In this event, we're shown how Lapp cares about her bond with others but don't really understand how she feels about it or what it's supposed to be. Example 1. Lapp: You don't even bat an eye at your own boys getting killed. Father: What's the point in crying over some incompetent associates? Lapp: What about an incompetent child? Oh, I almost forgot, for you there's no difference between an associate and your own child. 2. Lapp to Texas: Am I your friend or your enemy? There's also the parts with her and the 2 guys working under her. She's always gauging to see what you think of her & would act according to that. Lappland is so detached but she also can't let go of something she hates for the longest time (her family). Another thing is, I think her craziness stemmed from her rebellion. She even said that back then she thought she was crazy enough, strong enough & rebellious enough to break free from Siracusa.

Lappland saw texas's escape as denying her inevitable destiny to stay there, however when she realized texas wished to stay and help truly out of her own accord she realized that texas was never chained like she was, texas did whatever she wanted because she wanted to and that it was in fact herself who chained herself because she could not admit to herself that she failed to escape originally. Texas obviously doesnt give much of a shit about lappland and sees her as someone who she happened to train with and fight with some times, but its clear she does not worry or really care about her.

I don't think Lappland truly wanted to break Texas. She wanted Texas to prove to her once more that change is possible. At all cost. Something that she reaffirmed in their final duel. Yes, Lappland proved to herself that she does have the power to bring about the change she wants, but she is both not alone in that desire while being alone in her means. So she lets Texas live and goes to strengthen her side. For the eventual confrontation between Nuova Volsinii and Signora Sicilia, the final fight for change and destruction of the Famigila.

The thing is, Lappland is smart and so good at reading the situation that she could concoct a plan to stop/help Texas in a short time. But like Lappland said, she didn't have an actual plan or reason so she's just doing whatever she thinks is the correct thing (in her eyes). So yeah, I agree with you. She was just trying to get Texas to prove to her again that things can change, although she's not aware of this herself. That's why she kept changing her mind.

@@Phos9 I do think Lappland defeated her father, she managed to escape from his control, that destroyed him, to the point he called her a Monster and wanted to kill her, at that point Lappland became stronger than her father and he noticed that, which is why he was so enraged, the only thing stopping him from trying to kill her on the spot was their familial bond. I do think that even if he tried he wouldn't succeed, at least not without putting his own life in danger, Lappland is a damn good fighter, she wouldn't surrender so easily, specially after this change in her psyche

Lappland was raised to be the perfect heir she never thought she had a choice but to be what she was raised to be until with her very eyes leaving behind her dead family, the crime and Siracusa as a whole. No where in the event nor even her files is there a mention of her being Texas's reminder that she couldn't escape. Hell Texas didn't even come back to Siracusa because of her. In fact in To Be Continued Lappland got a letter from Signora Sicilia herself which she uses to tease Capone and Gambino but ends up destroying it showing she doesn't care about coming back.

12:47, honestly i do meet someone like this in real life, and to be more honest, he/she is one of my teacher. Whenever his/her student receive a bad grade he/she always tried to asked them to show their bad grades to their parents, as if he/she want them to be scolded like him/her in the past. and it makes more sense when he/she told his/her student about his past that he/she is adopted and if he/she can't get a good grade, nobody will care about him/her and he/she will get blamed because all of it. I already see some comments, and I'm sure there will be a lot more that say something roughly along the lines of "lol the fanartists aren't gonna care about canon". And you're right, they probably won't. But that's okay. Artists can draw whatever they feel like, people can commission whatever art they feel like. If someone wants to draw Texas and Texas Alter double-teaming Exusiai (you all know what I'm talking about), that's fine. If they want to draw Texas and Lappland as lovers, that's also fine. If they want to draw, I don't know, Lappland working a part time job at a maid cafe (scary thought!), then that's also fine. It's all fine. Fanartists don't have to stick to canon or lore. And as someone who ships Texas and Lappland part-time, I recognize it's not canon. But that's okay, it's still fun and the art is still great. All that to say, just relax. Let people draw what they want to draw, and imagine what you want to imagine. If that's Texas and Dokutah, or Exusiai, or Giovanna, or Lappland having a tumble in a bedroom, then that's all fine. (...As long as you don't go making any NSFW fanart of Lappland with her father. That's not fine, no matter who you are.)

Yeah, I'm Lappland most down bad horrendous fan, I love her story and how the canon plays out, however I also enjoy her being a raging lesbian in the fanarts, it's just two different things, I would only feel somewhat troubled if the fan work was advertised as being "close to canon" or something like that, mostly because for someone that doesn't know the canon, that would paint a picture of the characters that's not the same as the canon. Do with the characters whatever you desire, that's the best part about fan works, but don't claim to be close to canon if you're not actually trying to do that

I think many comments like that often appear due to how visceral the shipping community has a tendency to be (especially the Yaoi and Yuri shippers for some reason). While it is a loud minority of shippers, those few loud among them are often extremely toxic in regards to how to interact with people in the community, anyone who doesn't accept their favorite ship as canon or make fanart of other ships including the same character even though it's explicitly not canon, ends up getting a lot of hate and/ or harassment from them. Now, I haven't seen this as much in Arknights community, which is good, but shippers have a very bad reputation in these kinds of fandoms for a reason unfortunately. I have seen many of these toxic shippers try to go out of their way to tell peope outside the fandom that their ship is canon and give blatant misinformation about the lore only to become furious when someone points out they're wrong. Most of these shippers are usually found in the bigger and more popular stuff, in mainstream anime like BNHA or Kimetsu no Yaiba currently. (Or the big 3 before them), which is unsurprising, as there are so many fans of those pieces of media, some of them were bound to lunatics. Again, I know it's a loud minority of toxic shippers and most are just normal people who like a specific ship. I do agree with you though, people should be allowed to do whatever they want with the characters so long as they don't try to enforce that it's actually canon and don't harass people for having different opinions. I personally prefer seeing the more canon depictions of the characters over the fandom version of the characters, but I still do enjoy seeing some silly stuff or ridiculous fan interpretations from time to time. Terra is such a gloomy and depressing world that making fan art that is comedic would be a bit difficult without some level of fandom magic. (Especially Frostnova art)
