I think it's more the issue of Abjurers just being poorly designed as a entire subclass. It's very telling that they later changed Abjurers' base trait from what it originally was, because they themselves were still experimenting with class, which I honestly disliked, because it just made them worse medics. Like honestly, I do not understand the purpose or role of Abjurers. Only time you'd use them is when you need a medic, but you're lacking just that bit of dmg, so you need them to deal few base attacks as well. Originally it was clear they tried to make a new subclass that mixed both traits of Decel Binders and Hexer, but it didn't work out, so they tried to shift them more to healing, but removing their ability to attack while using skill, removed the only thing that was any good about them. Abjurers are pretty much prototypes of Incantation Medics, which do exactly what Abjurers were supposed to do, but better. Dealing some damage (Reed doesn't count), while healing. Still I love Tsukinogi, because stealth is one of AK's mechanics I hate the most, so anything that reveals it is great in my book. Whenever we got map with a lot of stealth enemies or stealth CC risk, I'd use her for huge area of effect reveal. Also I won't stand for deer slander! Firewatch is amazing! I use her all the time and because she was first operator to receive true Invisibility and everyone since then got weaker Camouflage instead, cos HG realized it was too strong, she's truly unique and irreplaceable operator.

Indeed. They just don’t know what to really do with the branch, but not enough people care to where HG cares enough to genuinely try. It’s why we still don’t have a 6 star in the branch. Hell, it’s probably part of why we don’t we don’t have a 6 star deer yet. Also yeah, Firewatch is the best out of all the deers. The only operator in the game to have invisibility and a pretty good nuke skill as well.

I feel like Tsuki's talent made her suck. If that Shelter effect has no HP restriction... it would make her less sucky, I guess. And maybe HG should rework Shelter to something like extra RES or DEF. And then there's her first skill. We know dodges could work. 2 star casters Durin and 12F has 50% dodges for Arts and Physical attacks respectively, and these two are pretty popular in low star clears. If they want to buff her first skill maybe that physical and dodge rate should be increased to Flametail levels.

Abjurer medics are perfectly useful in IS mode because it gives you another way to access healing so if you care about IS you should probably build at least one.

To give an example of how bad shelter is One of the Guardian defender modules gives 15% damage reduction. This is almost as good as the 20% shelter effect from tsukinogi, but it works at max HP, doesn't take an extra deployment slot or a valuable ranged tile, and is already on the exact operators you want damage reduction on anyway. Oh, and tinfoil hat moment: tsukinogi is bad because hypergryph didn't want to bother designing a 6star abjurur supporter, so they made both the first operator and the archetype as bad as they possibly could to prevent anyone ever asking for one.

Idk, they made shelter better in SSS by not needing to deploy her at all. What's worse is that it's global. A Medicx5 Lancet-2 is better than Tsukinogi. Edit: Abjurers were made inferior to an already existing supporter who is one star lower in rarity. I guess they made them work like that since Podenco users exclusively use her for her S2 nowadays and wanted some other supporters to fill that niche.

I think the real answer lies between all the options. 1) She was an experimental unit, classic. 2) Her kit was designed before they changed archetype trait and hasn't been adjusted since. Hense the "stops attacking". 3) And yes, she's probably there to bloat the roster, sadly. I think her kit would be way different if it was designed with archetype rework in mind. I really hope 6* abjurer gonna be actually good, or at least versatile so i can take it to IS idk?? Or i'll just skip them i guess.

Putting aside the obvious argument that abjurers don't even matter since we have a plethora of options to delete opponents in a matter of seconds so why would you even need them... Their niche is pretty jank, "Shelter" effect sounds amazing on paper but then you realize it's an additional slot on the map that has to be put alongside units that already have some sort of sustain, or medics at which point... why even bother? I can guarantee that there are close to no situations where you'd need both normal healing AND Shelter, it's exceedingly rare. The HP threshold is also a very harsh condition, no wonder that NCD removes it with her S2 and Quercus traded some Shelter power for a 70%+ HP threshold that's insanely more useful since it actually makes you able to survive some heavy blows at full health. Hey at least abjurers became a bit better with each addition so there's that. Heck I actually use Quercus decently often, she even carried my butt in H10-3.

The only way i see to make abjurers good is to either revert them slightly and let them heal AND DPS during skill or to triple down on the buff nature. They should be closer to what bard supporters do, they are a "boost area" for your operators. Maybe giving all abjurers skills that proc something on heal, imagine how tsukinogi would be if her healing on-hit applied a short lived shield or made invis enemies take a DOT when revealed, or have her S2 healing give a small DEF bonus -on top of- shelter. They gotta do more with their "stance switch" between attacking and healing.

Tsukinogi's S1 is much stronger though. Elysium's S2 only reveal up to 4 units, that were in his range at the moment of casting. Tsukinogi has way long duration and keeps revealing anything that walks into her range, which makes her amazing on stages with a lot of stealth enemies you want to burst/kill fast.

I use Frostleaf and Kirara quite often.. Idk maybe not in CC/hardest ex stages but for almost all content it's not hard to use them. Especially in is2 kirara can solo 1 stage and frostleaf can hit air targets+cheap guard.

Kirara at least has the damage, Frostleaf is not good at general content but she's actually decent in IS since relics synergize well with her skill + expanded range. Also, Arene exists as a better option while being equally cheap to raise.

The second time was when I was pulling for Beeswax, another failure. Nine-Colored Deer and Quercus are actually pretty decent in combat, it’s just that their kits are easily outclassed by others in most scenarios. Quercus is pretty much the weakest SP feeder, especially considering most of the feeders in the game are 5 stars.

Remember that Firewatch was actually nerfed shortly after release? Her 3 bombs at M3 used to be able to hit the same tile, thus stacking her damage to nuke stuff. Add to that that Czerny was shoved down our throat as the welfare operator in place of the Hibiskus alter we expected and wanted, thus purposefully making him the target of the palyerbase's hated. Gitano? Stuns herself after her skill. The deer? poor girl doesn't even have a nose! These convincing pieces of evidence leve me no choice but to conclude that Hypergriph do, in fact, hate deer! Seriously, they even broke her arm in her artwork. She was probably forced to pose for that right after one of the devs ran her over with a car on purpose. That's some obvious animal cruelty right there.

Theory #: I heard she was released suddenly during CC Beta in CN Back then there was this stage called Abandoned Tower (I still don't know why they settled for "Abandoned Highrise"). This stage is a drone-focused stage. One time, there was a risk combination of Banned Melee Ops and Invisible Drones. The available ops back then that can reveal invisible enemies were Melee operators (I only knew SilverAsh) and some players complained that max risk for that rotation is impossible. I think it's time to do the thing: If I checked correctly, Tsukinogi was the first non-Silverash character that could reveal invisible enemies without blocking them on NA (which was soon also accomplished by Elysium and Scene, who both are much better at that) and as someone who really dislikes Silverash I pulled and e2ed her right away for that singular purpose (I also just prefer to rely on ranged units for everything other than blocking and dp gen). And yes there was one stage in one event (specifically challenge version of the last challenge stage in Break the Ice with invisible jacked Degenbrecher) that allowed my investment to pay off (never used her before that or after so the video is definitely right, lol, but that moment where she was able to shine felt incredible).

Also before I start my long ass comment, I have seen clothing like that irl that functions like her sleeve. It’s more than likely just a bad perspective on that arm and HG never bothered to ask her artist to fix it, because fuck caring about her am I right? In all seriousness, Tsukinogi has definitely gotten better with the branch rework, but she is still unfortunately the weakest among the Abjurer girls. HG simply put designed a game that is just really unfavorable for this play style. Shelter/Sanctuary is a mechanic designed for defenders, that’s why it’s one of Eunectes’ talents and why it actually works there. Another thing against this branch is that ALL THE MEDICS IN THE GAME ARE SO GOOD. Yes, even Lancet is good. It’s easy as shit to make healing units that the player doesn’t need to worry about because most players in gaming do not pay attention to supports in the first place, they only pay attention to them when they buff their allies, or because the damage and tanks are dead because they decided going off on their own to 1v5 the enemy team was a good idea, and then blaming the healer for not keeping them alive. The majority of healers in AK have basic as hell kits in terms of gameplay where the player can just forget about them, whereas with the Abjurer girls the player does have to pay some attention to them. This works fine for Nine-Colored Deer and Quercus as their kits aren’t bad, but poor Tsukinogi does not have that luxury. Her kit definitely had to be the first rough draft and someone at HG decided that this was good enough to ship out, completely ignoring the high high SP costs, the low duration of her S2, the low initial SP, the operator they made a patch before, and overall just not caring about her like they don’t care about Savage. I’ve thought of multiple ways of making her better along with the other two, and this is the best one I’ve thought of: For one, rework them again to have an attacking and a healing mode independent of their skills. Pretty much keep their base stats the same in this regard. However a catch is that to activate most of their skills they need to be in their healing mode. The only exceptions to this are Tsukinogi’s S2 since that is passive healing, and NCD’s skills if you just want the faster attack speed and the 100% Sanctuary HP ratio. Next up, give them their own version of sanctuary, one where them and any allies in their range won’t die. Instead they’ll have a few seconds of invincibility and after that they will be retreated, however if they can get healed up to or above the minimum HP threshold then they won’t be retreated. HOWEVER, they can only be healed by the Abjurers and can only work when their skills are active, any other healing sources don’t count. This mechanic won’t work on Surtr as well, her own talent will override this. This rework would warrant them having low stats and them healing for only 75% percent of their attack. The player would actually have to think about what they are doing with them. In terms of Tsukinogi’s kit, we of course buff it. Instead of dodge, have the her and any allies in her range gain reflect damage like Hoshiguma and bubble but for both Arts and physical damage. However Tsukinogi’s is a weaker version, but to make up for that any enemies within her range have the fragile effect added to them. Again, not as strong as the operators who specialize in fragile, but not weak enough to where it doesn’t matter. S2: Increase the stats on it, and especially increase its duration as well as giving it initial SP. Now in terms of modules, for their branch wide one, keep in simple put in the usual slight stat increase, but give them an extra 5 RES and have their SP costs reduced by 10. This will benefit all of them to being in a good spot as they will have their skills up more often. Idk what to give for Tsukinogi’s individual module. I love these girls. They are each my second favorite characters in the game behind Lava. I understand that game development for gacha games is hard but Tsukinogi should have never been this bad in the first place. It’s fine for a branch like this to not be close to being meta, not every branch needs to. This branch and Tsukinogi in particular shows how bias HG can be when it comes to designing and balancing content in the game.
