Up here in the Interior of Alaska we have good paying jobs. It’s a great place to raise your children too. Or the oil fields of South Dakota I hear are great paying jobs too. These lyrics, the message, this song brings tears. I cry for my ancestors who were brutalized and I cry for our children who struggle in today’s society, who often never make it to adulthood. Alcoholism, suicide, teen pregnancy, drugs, abuse....it’s rampant on the reservations! My heart hurts for our young kids, who still unknowingly carry the trauma from the past. However, with messages like this...we know there is hope. Spreading awareness and educating our people is how we beat the pain and stay alive! 😓😪❤️🙏🏽💪🏽
