In Canada, First Nations are about 6 times more likely to die at the hands of a man than other women. I understand what is happening in Mexico with drug cartels is different than the femicide, which is happening in Mexico too. Both are urgent problems that I hope in my life time start be addressed in more serious manner. ❤

One of our strong women just came back from protesting at the Capital, a white man recognized her from the news and started yelling curses at her when she was trying to pay in the store. She stood her ground silently until the store clerks couldn’t take it anymore and told him to leave “Why should I leave, it’s my land, she should leave!” he screamed. He was still at the side of the road screaming as she paid and drove away. This is life in Canada for standing up for charter rights and showing solidarity for your fellow Canadians, our beautiful women deserve way better treatment than they have and are still currently getting. Truth & Reconciliation is for all of us to heal, stop making new wounds.

She grabbed a portable speaker (big one with good bass) and we danced.... i chose the song because i knew everyone would love it. The son told me the next day how much his mother enjoyed our company. Several years ago I went to a club in Portland, Oregon. On arrival I was surprised to see a concert was happening there (they sometimes have live shows). I live out in the sticks. It takes over an hour to drive to that place. The people in line were different from the usual crowd of hipsters. I went anyway. I was immediately intimidated being one of the very few white people there... but the music was some if the best jams I've ever been blessed to hear. Most there were First Nations People and I felt... like I didnt belong and I wasnt allowed. I danced a bit in a dark corner. At some point some girls with beautiful long black hair noticed I was alone and they approached me- now... I go out alone all the time and this was the first time this happened out of dozens, maybe hundred + times being there. Mid concerta spontaneous circle formed of all women.. the men inside the club all stepped back and cheered... I stood aside to watch... a woman broke her hand hold to run to me and grabbed my hand and drug me to the circle to join. I was so afraid that I wasn't allowed to join for being white and for the atrocities my ancestors committed against theirs... but they (literally) reached out to me and invited me to dance. I danced in this huge hoop hand in hand with other women from another culture that mine had hurt. THANK YOU. BLESS YOU. I am a fairly atheistic person, but that night I felt touched in a way I hadn't experienced until then. Thank you.
