In my opinion this is the best movie of the of the last decade or so! Its so much fun, hilarious at times and scary at others, its got some fantastic effects, epic cinematography, and at the end of the day a very VERY profound movie about love, loss, and letting go. A strong 10/10!

This is one of my favorite movies because it reminds me of when I was young filming stuff, and the effects were amazing, story was alright, the soundtrack is awesome and nostalgic (even if I wasn't alive when they had great music), the acting was award worthy. usually kid actors aren't that well but these kids had good chemistry, they were funny and serious at the right time, and also they acted like real kids, which made it believable, relatable, and funny. 10/10 better than 99% of movies I've seen in a while.

the reason I really wanted to see this movie is because the mystery that was surrounding it, even the trailer of this movie promoted the mystery what was in the train cargo and never showed it! The portal 2 even promoted this movie by giving you a linear game about super 8 you can play, which was pretty sweet and got me hyped about this movie. This movie is absolutely amazing, the mystery was a big grip for me in this movie was greatest strengths on this movie for me and the rest follows. I can watch this movie repeatedly and almost never get sick of it

After Star Trek, Star Wars AND Super 8 I think J J Abrams is probably my favorite director of all time.

8/10. Good and forgettable. Mr. Spielberg (one of my favorite director) always delivers awesome quality and thrilling multilayered secuences however the story it's predictable and weak. And please someone tell J.J. Abrahams to "Put the Flare Down" because at first I thought the movie was directed by Mr. Spielberg and wondered why would he use that annoying lens flare as if it was part of the script and then at the end it turns out J.J. was the director and my mind went aha! OMG it's the same flaregore director that those nice and awfully blinding star treck movies!

I recently re-watched it on Epix a couple nights ago for free. Since this year is the 10th anniversary of the movie's release. Thought in the last act when the battle is taking place in the town was a bit like Iron Giant and War of the Worlds (the Tom Cruise version).

J.J. Abrams is proof that a director can show his passion for film through his movies. This masterpiece of a movie shows how much of a film fan Abrams is. And thats why we see movies in the first place, right? Because we're film fans. And if we see a movie directed by a film fan who truly loves film, than it should mean a lot to us fans. Super 8 is one of the most important movies ever made and I fail to understand how someone can dislike it (not Jeremy, but some of the commenters).
