What happens if you add a battery to your coil with the magneto? Will this increase spark? Or can you use the complete Tao Tao cdi system with the magneto as spark timing?
@chefboiard54686 жыл бұрын
Why didn’t you do the stock cdi as well wtf
@daychan22974 жыл бұрын
why would he? his objective is to cut down other vendors. stock cdi has no ownership but the super hd does.
@arrepuess4 жыл бұрын
day chan to see how they compare.
@Riley_Christian4 жыл бұрын
Ya id love to see the difference but the stock cdi is absolute trash. Only lasted me 5 rides before the rubber cracked and then the cdi completely burt out. If you keep replacing it you'll eventually spend more while making less power instead of just buying a good one. Also the quality on the stock ones is pretty inconsistent
@chefboiard54684 жыл бұрын
Riley Christian that’s weird the stock one has lasted me months I just covered the hell out of the connections so they don’t get wet that will fry it, other than that stock one is perfectly fine haven’t had any problems in the 6 I built when I was in school
@arrepuess4 жыл бұрын
I had a stock coil that gave a spark yet wasnt strong enough to make it run. I thought it was compression and re ringed it to no success. Then swapped the cdi coil and it immediately ran again. They do fail... and it can be when you least expect
@smokey906 жыл бұрын
FYI you got the leads on the coil backwards on both CDI's.... why the super cdis come with the HT lead on the ground strap baffles me. it will fire either way, but dan himself says to wire the red to the primary on the coil... you the man rob.

Hi, I want to ask, I'm from the Czech Republic and I don't understand much English. Is it worth tuning BBS ignition? or not ? Thanks
@AuMechanic6 жыл бұрын
Yep same same, probably find the same slight difference with multiple runs of the same unit.
@codelicious65906 жыл бұрын
Is it possible to affect the vibrations of these engines by tuning the electrical components or ignition timing? What I mean by "tuning" in this context is simply increasing the quality of the components and connections.
@AuMechanic6 жыл бұрын
No I doubt it.
@waterboy41245 жыл бұрын
@@codelicious6590 yes but its a simple matter of filing open the magneto magnet keyway to the right and tilting the magnet more counterclockwise. Retarding timing mechanically. NGK plugs smooth it out too.
@ZayceM6 жыл бұрын
I've used a few different third-party CDIs and the main benefit I've found is not in pure performance but in smoother running and quite possibly better longevity. I believe the overall power curve on the supercharged CDI (which is a clone of the Rocket Racing CDI) is a bit better than stock, which can make up for the slightly lower peak power. Were I racing instead of putting around town, I would probably opt for stock. YMMV.
@glennspears8394 жыл бұрын
Timing couldn't have changed. The magnet is in the identical place. CDI is for spark. We want a fat blue spark. Also use a quality spark plug wire. Not carbon fiber. Solder those wire connections. Crimped ones may vibrate loose.
@motorizedbicyclenation53cu902 жыл бұрын
The difference is the supercharged will be far less likely to not fire and last a LOT longer being FAR more dependable
