Fun fact about Red Dawn: supposedly some of the "tanks" they used in the film were made so good and looked so convincing, that when one of them was being transported from where it was built to where they were shooting, they were followed by a couple guys from the CIA who pulled them over and demanded to know how they got ahold of a Soviet tank

The best thing about Red Dawn's making (1986 release, btw) was that they built one of the Soviet Tanks based off a bulldozer, and then had to trailer it to the Studio bosses halfway across LA to get it okay-ed. They were tailed most of the way by law enforcement (allegedly FBI) who wanted to know where that tank came from.

Hollow point shotgun slugs are extremely common. You can shoot rifled hollow point foster slugs if you have a smoothbore, or you can shoot copper plated saboted hollow point slugs if you have a rifled barrel or choke tube. Saboted JHP slugs are fantastic for hunting big game.

In addition to wanting to shoot the galil: In WWII the germans had a "Krummlauf", translating to "bend barrel", to defend the sides of the Tanks "Ferdinand" a.k.a. "Elefant". The "Krummlauf" was mounted to a pivot fitting at e.g. the tanks side, and was connected to the Stg44 by plugging the muzzle into the end of the Krummlauf. Due to friction inside the barrel, the projectile exploded on exit of the Krummlauf, effectively creating an automatic shotgun at 500 shot/min.

I can't tell you how much I would love to see "gun builder reacts to Red Dawn (original please)". As a matter of fact, have BRCC do a "Veterans React / Gun Builders React" to both the original Red Dawn, and the shitty remake. (watching others rip on the remake just makes me smile, because it was THAT BAD!!!!) The original will always be my favorite movie, ever!
